Walmart's stock took a steep drop as the company announced that it was expecting lower profits. There are a number of problems Wal-mart has, such as its website and fulfillment not being quite as good as Amazon.com, but Wal-mart is primarily a brick and mortar store, not an internet company.
The basic problem as I see it is that middle class people are afraid to shop there. If you look at reviews on Yelp one of the most common words used to describe Wal-mart is "ghetto". There is even a Yahoo question on this very topic:
Why is every Walmart so ghetto? Why? I have never walked into any Walmart without feeling like I was going to be mugged, even in a nice area. I know the prices are very convenient, but still. I don't see why every Walmart attracts gangs, druggies, and sometimes even hookers. I've actually seen all those things at a Walmart before, including a man wearing a thong....

Rusty!
We shop at Wal-Mart for food, garden supplies and paint. Everything else for me is either the local hardware or Amazon. And Amazon is my favorite because I like NOT driving around searching for stuff and then not finding what I want when instead I can log into Amazon and find all sorts of different choices and then have it delivered in a couple of days and usually cheaper than I could buy it anywhere else.
LL Bean has an unconditional lifetime warranty on most, if not all, of their signature products.
Same here. Plus, the ex-wife works at the local Wal-Mart.

Our suburban walmarts are great! I don’t shop there that often because I have everything I need.
“Because they’re always out of .22LR when I check their ammo display case.”
Exactly! When the 550-round bricks start showing up on the shelves again, I’ll go back...
My daughter sent me a text from Walmart...”a couple behind me are talking about Princeton or prison...I’m guessing the latter”
But most middle class folks are middle class because they understand the difference between value and cheap. They don't purchase items like furniture from Walmart.
I do go to Walmart, but I always go with a particular item in mind. As I know that the closest Walmart is lousy with hood-rats and white trash meth mommas, I also go packing, mainly because of the long walk from through the parking lot.
Place that I used to work for hitched their wagon to WM, made a bundle of money to start with, got squeezed on the next contract, then got dumped after 5 years for another vendor who offered WM a slightly better margin.
My old company survived, but just barely. Fortunately, there were enough people who thought that getting into bed with WM was foolish to begin with, and were prepared for the eventual disaster. Lots of good people got laid off, though.
WM will save the consumer money. But the manner in which they do it is absolutely ruthless.
I quit going so frequently because about 7 out of 10 people in the line at the pharmacy appeared to be meth addicts buying ephedrine. You never know when one of them are going to twist off.
“It was Third World awful. Hajibs & Espagnol ruled that day.”
Sounds like the DC metro, especially Seven Corners.
But, after all, the PTB need those illegals to clean house, tend yards and kids and clerk the upper class groceries.
I drive em till their not trustworthy anymore. Current pickup is 14 going on 15. I just can't see spending more than I absolutely need to for transportation.
Checking your purchases after you cash out? well, that reminds me of the other reason I don’t go to Wal-Mart: the “receipt nazis”.

We shop at Walmart all the time. We buy most of our groceries there. We buy most of the kids clothes there. Nothing wrong with it at our area.
Why don’t people in Florida learn how to swim?
How come women can’t play golf?
Why is it that Democrats don’t get abortions?
The list of questions exactly like this article is endless.
The most irritating thing I see in Walmart is the neglect and anger directed at children. What is the matter with people? At least once every visit I see kids yelled at. They are CHILDREN, show some patience. It’s either that, or their kid is misbehaving and they don’t even try to parent them. Just let them scream or destroy store property. I just keep walking and say a silent prayer.
“I think some companies make bargain brand stuff for big boxes, but not all of them do, by a long shot.”
The tire companies do, at least for Walmart; not of very good quality.
I stopped in walley worlds when I was trucking because they were easy to get into with my rig.
Between that and delivering to their distribution centers, I got my fill of Walmart.
It definitely isn’t Sam’s company anymore.
I buy my groceries at Kroger and go to Dollar General for paper goods and some other things.
There is a better crowd at Dollar General than at Walmart.
I get my prescriptions filled at a locally owned drug store. I know everyone from the counter girl to the owner by name and they know me and my medical history better than an overworked pharmacist named Achmed Haboob at Walmart.
Plus the fact that Walmart has chased more jobs off shore than any other single retailer.
Don’t believe me?
Do a little research, it’s all on the web.
Cause I sed pitchers of em on line, those pitchers done skeered me away.
You can find off quality/brand tires at Goodyear or anywhere else. My son-in-law used to run a FireStone.
