After undercutting John McCain's war hero status and brushing his own Vietnam deferments under the rug, Donald Trump has once again mythologized his own time in the military in hopes of bolstering his presidential campaign. The funniest part: someone out there buys it.
According to a new report from The New York Times, Trump recently told biographer Michael D'Antonio that he "always felt that I was in the military" because of his education at a military-themed boarding school. As the Times writes:
According to the book, Mr. Trump attended the New York Military Academy after years of rowdy and rebellious behavior at Kew-Forest, a more traditional prep school in Queens. Mr. Trump once recalled giving a teacher at Kew-Forest a black eye "because I didn't think he knew anything about music." He arrived at the military academy where tuition now reaches $31,000 a year for eighth grade in 1959 and remained for high school. Like all students at the Cornwall-on-Hudson, N.Y., campus, he wore a uniform, participated in marching drills and was expected to conform to a hierarchy imposed by instructors, some of whom had served in the military.
Trump adds that time spent at the New York Military Academy was "more training militarily than a lot of the guys that go into the military" and that "when I look at myself in the first grade and I look at myself now, I'm basically the same. The temperament is not that different." We can't argue with that.
Republican frontrunner Donald Trump reportedly told the author of a forthcoming biography that while he never served in the military, he always felt that he had because he attended a military-themed prep school that gave him more training militarily than a lot of the guys that go into the military.
If you missed it, here is a “Vet” that you will love. He is a total POC that lied to the UNITED NATIONS that Iraq not only had WMD but they had “ mobile Labs”. A total lie. The trucks were for weather balloons!! We had 4000 dead and 38,000 wounded!! And 2 damned trillion dollars of printed money after this fool!! Big Military!! Collin Bowell. To hell with that!! Go Trump!!
I was 4 years in a military high school (66-69)
and 6 years in the national guard (71-77).
High school was far more strict and difficult than basic training (Fort Polk-1971),
and AIT (91A10-Ft. Sam Houston-1971) was like a vacation,
and the national guard was like a joke.
Better than demonrats who claim that military service is the same as being gang members, murders or criminals
I went to an exclusive blue blood prep school as a 16 year old post grad to get my grades up and play football at an Ivy League school. Ever since I always felt like a rich kid though the Ivy League school thing gave way to the Army school of infantry.
I'll answer it since I doubt you'll get it from the OP.
Trump was in charge of maintaining the Academy's armory of M1 Garand rifles. That's what I heard or read.

Saw nothing in this short article where Trump said military school is the same as serving in the military.
Not only that, but they argued themselves out of their original criticism.

Trump may be allowed to speak on the deck of a battleship, but is he allowed to say anything about the military?

And there it is...the truth. Overall they have to maintain it for much longer.

I wonder if any of the students at HairTard Military Academy were ever “captured” in study hall. He only likes people that weren’t “captured”.
Yep, saw his quote hours earlier.

He only said it felt like being in the military—not like it was. Bad hit piece they never used when Clinton or Obama ran for office.
Trump didn't say it was. He said it was LIKE being in the service.
Boy Scout Camp was like being in the service as well.
That doesn't mean it was the same.
Considering what a joke Navy boot camp was in 1979, I’m absolutely sure he is correct—and his military school lasted a lot longer.
Trump doesnt say that, the author of the hit piece does.
...
Yep, and I have to ask myself why some girly man at Esquire cares.
