Its a big week in the Republican presidential primaries. Today, Carly Fiorina and Ben Carson both announced their candidacies, and Mike Huckabee is expected to make his official tomorrow. Now that the field is filling out (though there are still plenty of candidates in the running-but-officially-not-yet-running category), its looking a little unusual.
In fact, the group of Republicans running for president is almost everything the Republican Party itself is not: its demographically diverse, its less wealthy than you might expect, and its extremely young. The question is whether voters will look at them and say that the GOP really has changed.
By my count, the GOP field is all but certain to contain twelve candidates: Rand Paul,Marco Rubio, and Ted Cruz have already entered, in addition to Fiorina, Carson, and Huckabee; then add Jeb Bush,Chris Christie,Bobby Jindal,Rick Perry,Rick Santorum, and Scott Walker. There are a few others who might enter: Lindsey Graham,John Kasich,George Pataki, and Donald Trump. Among this group we have one woman, two Latinos, one African-American,and one Indian-American. Three (Rubio, Cruz and Jindal)are sons of immigrants. It might be an exaggeration to say it looks like America (the male-to-female ratio could do with some improvement), but its a much more diverse field than either party has ever put forward.
There are also an unusual number of young candidates.....
Then theres the matter of wealth,.....
This new face of the GOP is something that Republicans will surely be touting in the months to come. What theyre less likely to bring up is the fact that young or old, rich or not, black, white or brown, they all believe pretty much the same things...
...We can give the GOP some credit for increasing the diversity of its candidates. but the GOP is still the party of white people, and its agenda is still focused on the interests of those at the top.

To the Left, people can't possibly want the same thing, freedom from government.
Or “the Republicans are really not all white males, but we won’t back away from our false narrative.”
whereas Hillary Clinton is down wit da struggle! /SARC
That’s right Paul. Desperately cling to that narrative. It doesn’t matter that the Republican Party has so much diversity in its candidates that even a dogmatic Liberal hack like you can’t deny it. You see through the smokescreen to see that they are still all tools of the greedy rich bigots.
Of course the only thing the Liberals are concerned about is skin color.
The Republicans are also far more diverse in political opinion than the Democrats can ever hope to be.
The RINOs can be as transparently supportive of Obama’s agenda as possible (as they have been of late) and people like Waldman (Media Splatters) will still regurgitate the lies.
The GOP is a relic
Being free from government dependency launches diverse and prosperous outcomes.
There is no diversity of thought in the Democratic Party - their agenda is - first, foremost and always - about the revolution.
Who is going to run in the GOP for Muslim and Gay special interest?
Look like the GOP has all the other bases covered.

The EXEMPT undocumented Democrats:
"We have one agenda - no matter what we promise.
We in the GOP support Obama, open borders, al Qaeda, Iran,
ObamaCARE, and IRS attacks on conservatives.
You can take that to the bank ....
for we ARE ... the Give Obama Power (GOP) party."
Barack Obama in 2008--because he was only 48!--appealed a lot to the younger vote; Hillary Clinton may not do that, and a lot of Democrats are unnerved by her penchant to attract scandal like a magnet attracts iron filings.
Ted Cruz is setting the agenda quite nicely.
Please link to his policy statements.
I’m looking forward to seeing the specifics.
Add yourself to the Ted Cruz Ping List.
Well, that pretty much seals it.
To the left, “white male” is just a racist proxy for what they really oppose - Western Christian traditionalism.
They would do a lot better if that were true.
Passing up a chance to promote Ted Cruz?
