Today on Outnumbered Fox News, Kirsten Powers talked about how terrible it is that terrorists in Gitmo would be held there indefinitely and are entitled to Due Process and a fair trial. To that I say this:
These are not criminals. These are not US citizens. They are prisoners in their own declared War Against the Infidel. Put them on trial? The Geneva Conventions have strict restrictions regarding taking POWs to Court -- which are generally conducted by an international body, do not occur until the war is ended and are for War Crimes or criminal acts while in captivity.
It is not as if these Islamic terrorists are obeying International Law when they capture one of ours.
Let us consider the fact that their intention is to use violence against soldiers, government officials and civilians in order to cause changes to our domestic and foreign policies. Their ultimate object is to replace our way of life with theirs. These are not criminal objectives; they are strategic objectives.
The main purpose of terrorism is to perpetrate atrocities that will garner media attention. They want us to respond with restrictions to our freedoms that will have us thinking about them [and their demands] every time we do something like having to take off our shoes at the airport. Gitmo was specifically chosen to deprive terrorists of media access and trials have been eschewed to deprive them of platforms for their propaganda.
How long should they be held? It is typical practice to hold POWs until the war is officially ended. They can be released when they explicitly give up their above-stated objectives and demonstrate through word and deed that they resolve to live in peace with us.
So long as the war's end is indefinite to them, so then should be their captivity.
If she wants them released sooner, increase the tempo of the war.
..and the academics seated during the show failed to mention these prisoners are ENEMY COMBATANTS WHO SHOULD BE TRIED IN MILITARY COURTS. But our Muslim president refuses to label them as such and subject them to harsh punishment.
She is correct.
Terrorist should not be held indefinately.
Kill em on the battle field or street.
Don’t bring them in and hold em.
Her and her ilk have no problem killing them and innocent people in the process , but has a problem with jailing them.
They are all certifiable insane.
The other side keeps no prisoners. They behead them.
If we don't kill them, they will kill us...because they will never stop.
I saw part of that interview. She’s despicable.
We are now in a position where we are holding prisoners who can't I've put on trial and shouldn't ever be released. This is not a good position for any nation to be in.
disgusting!
terrorists should be shot on sight.
this is the only possible way they can be eliminated
otherwise they recruit and replicate too fast to give them the lengthy (and costly) ‘due process’ they just seek to destroy for the rest of us anyway
Dear Kristen. They must be shot when caught. Period.
That certainly is the current Administration’s method with the drone strikes and it is lacking. It also involves collateral damage.
Islamic terrorists should be brought into Gitmo and squeezed of every bit of info that would help us catch their compatriots. Then they should be sent to Geneva to be tried for Crimes Against the Peace, War Crimes and/or Crimes Against Humanity.
Or just thrown into Caribbean and let the hammerheads deal with them.
She is right, in a way. The war started against the US is the 17 hundreds, so I don’t expect it to end soon.
Dumb dumb!
Only CITIZEN Terrorists get a Trial in a US Court.
The rest whether they are from Afghanistan or alpha centaris should be treated as enemy combatants and either shot on the spot, or be tried in a military court, then shot if found guilty !
...but her Seattle roots still impede her ability to reason.
Give them living quarters in her neighborhood. She’ll change her attitude quite quickly.
