This is a paradox, because dark skinned African immigrants do not act like lighter skinned American blacks. In fact, dark skinned African immigrants are socially far more like conservative whites in many ways, so they are *not* what liberals want to see as a depiction of “black people.”

From watching Jerry Springer and Maury sometimes in the afternoon, I concluded that Black people are more concerned about levels of color in the black race than ANY white person is concerned about them, or even the white/red/yellow races. look at all the light negros in TV commercials.
There are a lot more lighteys than darkys.
There are as many lighteys a whiteys.

There’s an aspect of this that is staring us in the face, but nobody ever talks about it.

Dark-skinned black men can make it as musicians or actors. Their female equivalents are almost always very light in color.

If there is a black couple in TV or a movie, she is AFAIK always at least several shades lighter.

This is perhaps similar in some ways to how overweight male actors can do okay. Reference John Candy or Jack Black. Their love interest in the movie is always thin.
