The American journalist with Ebola who arrived at a Nebraska hospital today believes that he may have gotten infected when he got splashed while spray-washing a vehicle where someone had died from the disease.
Ashoka Mukpo arrived at the Nebraska Medical Center this morning after being flown directly from Liberia.
He's strong and his symptoms are not more advanced then when he talked to us before he left which is a relief, his father Dr. Mitchell Levy said at a news conference today. He said his son has a fever and slight nausea.
"Likely he will go into the next phase where his symptoms will be more severe," Levy said....

His family sounds as seedy, weird and screwed up as Obama’s.

I found it tone a general rule that, if somebody becomes infected with a disease that requires the exchange of bodily fluids and claims to having gotten it through happenstance, there is going to be a prostitute somewhere in there. So you are saying we have nothing to worry about with this disease as long as we stay away from prostitutes?

VERY interesting...I got to know some Shambhalas in the 90's when I had a big interest in Buddhism. What really turned me off was learning that the "regent," the successor of Chogyam Trungpa Rinpoche, was a gay man who had willingly infected unknowing young male students with HIV. There was controversy within the community about the fact that he was buried with high honor in his own stupa. As in, is it needless, harmful "attachment" to care about such a thing? I wonder if it was this man's half-brother that they were referring to here:
Mukpos older half-brother, Gesar Mukpo, son of Diana Mukpo and Trungpa, also was named a tulku and succeeded his father as leader of the Shambhala community after his death in 1987.
Oh, and one of them hit on me....brrrr. The whole group just seemed like a bunch of ironic egoists, smiling on the covers of the hip "Shambhala Sun" magazine like, or ooh I am so egoless...

I like this guy and hope he survives. Working in car wash because the car needed to be washed. In spite of his truly crazy background, he chose not to sit on some throne, pontificate, and have a million girlfriends.

I hope the Mexicans didn’t have little kids crawling around the floors at their homes after tracking in Ebola water.

I, too, feel that the timing of this latest “crisis” is highly suspect.

“...Levy said that his son is not certain when he got the disease, but believes that he could have gotten infected by some of the spray back that came when he was using chlorine to disinfect a car....”

Well....at least it’s a bit more imaginative of an excuse than saying he “thinks he got it from sitting on a toilet seat”.
“Not that there’s anything wrong with it.”

It is not airborne. That reduces the tranmistability.
But...it takes a ridiculously small amount to infect you.
And then, odds are that you will die.

Vile comment, unworthy of FR.
You know little to nothing about the infected man or how he contracted the disease. Shame on you.
