FERGUSON, Mo. (KMOX) - The protests and riots in Ferguson highlighted what many already knew—residents in many North St. Louis county towns are facing unemployment, poverty and lack of educational achievement.
Organizers say a job and resource fair on Saturday, Sept. 13 is designed to tackle those issues.
“We’re all alarmed by the situation and events that are happening, but I’m hoping that out of that something good can come out of it, and that’s getting people jobs and getting folks back into the educational setting,” says St. Louis Community College-Florissant Valley Interim President Ruby Curry.
The Urban League of Metro St. Louis teamed up with St. Louis Community College-Florissant Valley to create the fair in record time.
Curry says the school has had job fairs in the past with 60 companies.
“This year, with this event, we believe we’ll have 86 employment vendors and 33 resource vendors,” Curry says.
The resources will include free groceries and toiletries. Curry says there will be on-site interviews, so those looking for work should come dressed appropriately.
The job and resource fair will be held Saturday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Florissant Valley campus on Pershall Road in Ferguson.

I was actually wondering about the people holding the fair, and the companies that will attend, rather than those going to look for jobs.
Dentworks is rumored to be interested in opening and outlet in Ferguson as well....

There are sites aimed at graduating students such as YouTern.com, Internships.com, CareerRookie.com, and CollegeRecruiter.com. If you have a marketable skill, don't want to work for a company, or just want to fill up some part time work hours you have available, you can bid your skills out on Amazon Mechanical Turk, Elance, Rent-a-Coder, FlexJobs, Ratracerebellion, Directselling411, BackDoorJobs, CoolWorks, Guru.com, Behance.net, etc, etc. If you want to work in customer service, there must be 100 companies that will hire you to work from home at the hours you want.
There is NO NEED for the government to be involved at all. The market sees a demand and fills it damn quickly, at lower cost and with a million more times the innovation the government could ever dream of. Companies come and go as they succeed or fail in the competitive marketplace.
If we turned all of our job hunting over to damned Fedzilla, we would all be shipping printed resumes with cover letters off to some Federal Department of Job Finding. In the unlikely event we ever heard from them, they'd inform us about some low-paying job in a field we're not qualified for, have no interest in, and located on MLK Blvd. We'd get in line with 22,000 other "job seekers" and find out it was taken by Jose-the-Illegal who just rode The Beast northward a month ago.

Yeah, I can only imagine. The sad thing is, a lot of these people think they should be making big money without having to do much of anything. Or have any qualifications.
