Government Spends Money to Create Obesity Epidemic & Then Regulates Us to “Help”
Political Outcast ^ | July 3, 2014 | Mark Horne

I mentioned two days ago the decision of schools to ban birthday cupcakes. Michelle Obama is essentially fighting with students to get them to change what they eat.

But what is missing from this story is the proper context. The fact is that our bad eating habits are getting encouraged by taxpayer money. In fact, the government arguably changed our dietary habits to their present behavior.

The Foundation for Economic Education came out with an article yesterday about dealing with “food deserts.”

Once again, government is trying to solve a problem that it helped to create, papering over its own idiocy.

Nanny State PING!

No Sugar. No Grains. No Processed foods. Obesity, diabetes and heart disease go away.

Is it also possible that governments create other problems, such as civil unrest, street violence and then provide a police state response?

create a problem, stir up the mindless masses then provide a “solution” to the problem that they first created?

This works for me. Yes, I could be thinner, but for a post-menopausal woman, I'm VERY healthy!

Fermented Beverages = Beer and Wine, in moderation. :)

It works for me, too-I grew up eating only fresh food, so I’ve always been thin.

Look at some of those supposedly healthy school lunches, and they are short on the meat and fresh fruit, heavy on grains and starchy vegetables-the only thing “healthy” is the apparent absence of processed sugar...

And if nanny govt would have let everyone alone from the gitgo, there would have not have been a problem with any of this stuff-all things in moderation, I believe, and leave govt out of it-God gave people minds, let us use them...

You are exactly right. Notice, however, the “food” that’s in gibsmedats’ shopping carts are just the opposite. They take our money for food, then they take our money for bariatric surgeries, knee replacements, and back surgeries. Nifty little circle Big Gov created, isn’t it?

The 'study' that first established the link between cholesterol in food and cholesterol in the blood was done by a Russian who fed meat to rabbits, and found an increase in cholesterol. Completly ignoring the fact that rabbits do not eat meat, and cannot process meat.

There is NO chemical or biological pathway that shows meat (ie, foods with cholesterol) leads to an increase in cholesterol in humans.

The war against American farmers by the uneducated urban elite continues.

In the EU, 40% of their entire budget goes to agri-subsidies. Not so in America. Is everyone in the EU overweight, too?

In America, only 2% of the population farm. 80% of the farm “subsidy” bill goes directly to fund food stamps. Around 70% of farmers don’t receive subsidies at all, and of those that do, most is in the form of crop insurance subsidies.

In the world market, carbohydrates can be sold for much more overseas, creating domestic shortages and driving prices for both protein and carbohydrates up. Think North Korea or Red China.

Also in the world market, carbohydrates can be imported into America for less than our farmers can grow it. Think Brazilian corn syrup versus domestically produced corn syrup.

While importing Brazilian ethanol or Chinese carbohydrates seems the most capitalistic move, what happens when the Brazilian sugar fields get a blight, or America gets outbid, or China throws a hissy fit and now there are no farms in America left to take up the slack - and nobody left who even knows how to farm?

Price supports allow 2% of our population to make a liveable wage for their 24/7/365 work, keeps farms viable, and keeps fresh, safe product readily available and affordable locally.

It’s not farmers or farm “subsidies” that make people fat.

So, show some love to the American farmers, who preserve the knowledge of animal and land husbandry, who guarantee our ability to feed ourselves in a world crisis, and who’s efforts result in cheaper overall costs to taxpayers exporting millions of tons of free USAID food annually to a hungry world.

city boys....(spit)

Yes, I do, and I don't need anyone's permission to do that.

That I am fit and trim doesn't make it look like I'm killing myself with my diet.

I despise food fetishists that want to spread their fetish.

But what if you discover that sugar and carbs, not fat, cause heart disease? Would you still despise the truth?

Don't give a damn, as long as the dietary missionaries shut up and go away.

If you have a food fetish, keep it to yourself.
