A funny thing happened on the way to Michael Sam just wanting to play football -- and on being judged by his performance on the field and not his sexual orientation. After all, we were told ad nauseam, by Sam and his promoters in the sports media, that this is what Sam is about. If you Google “Michael Sam just wants to play football,” some 67 million results pop up. He also flatly stated that he "wanted to stop talking about his sexual orientation" and "let (his) work on the field speak for itself” in a radio interview, among other places.
Yeah, right. Nothing says that quite like licking icing off the mouth of another dude on national TV. And I’m sure the new Oprah TV series will have nothing to do with sexual orientation either.

Everyone wanted to puke seeing that pervert licking cake from another man’s mouth....but they won’t say it because they are afraid of losing their jobs or being seen as some kind of backward kook.
Was at an event where Sam was discussed and one guy had the guts to tell it like it is...sick. One by one everyone looked at each other and seemed relieved they were not the only ones repulsed. It seemed everyone had been afraid to speak out. Sad.
I think you misunderstand…..part of the fascination is how this is imploding on itself….the cancer is being exposed. Step back, look at the big picture.

First of all, gay would not be an Orwellian term really - I use Orwell as a measuring stick a lot and this doesn’t fit - second of all - I am trying to reach people who do accept the term gay with the piece - and third, when I used orientation I was quoting Sam.
And it’s really disgusting a lot of people, including some on ESPN insisting otherwise….probably including Jeff Fisher….etc. That’s my point.
ESPN treated its football draft viewers as imbeciles when it tried to pass this embarrassment off as “spontaneous” when it had the cameras and cake at the ready to film the moment the First Homosexual would be drafted.
The anchors were panicking as the end of the draft was at hand and launched into a diatribe, berating the NFL for not choosing Sam. They were determined to have their Historical Moment in Football. Next year, they’ll probably have a transexual in drag.
Football used to be entertaining on its own, without the hype of the morons at ESPN.
In the lefty pecking order of the eternally oppressed, does a homosexual black male rank higher than both a white male Mathew Shepard homo as well as a Trayvon Martin like male black male???
Sometimes we need a USA Today top 25 like poll to determine which oppressed group of the week is in the top five at any given week.
