Pardon me for being personal for this time of grief.
My older brother, USMA grad of 1972 who broke his neck bodysurfing and has been a Quad ever since, has declined a permanent tracheotomy and will probably leave us soon. For 41+ years, he has been my hero, making lemonade out of the lemons and having a good family life as well. As a good Christian, we know his body will no longer be his prison and he will be free.
For me it is just that having lost our Father in April, this leaves me somewhat adrift and feeling bereft. I know that I will overcome and adapt but this will be a hard time for me in the near future.
Prayers up for your family.
Prayers up. God bless your brother for having a great attitude in the most difficult of situations. Be glad to know that you will see him again.
And, thanks for the advice, too. I’ve been meaning to visit my grandmother, and it’s time.
prayers for a grace that passes all understanding during this time.
Thank you! And I know. My brother died last August in California (I am in Ohio), and though we conversed from time to time, it is not enough when all of a sudden they are gone. I say him one last time, after he died. We weren’t expecting it...but never the less, he is gone.
I repeat your admonition...say ‘I love you’...frequently...
Amen. Keep in mind the separation will not be forever. Please continue to live your life so your brother and father don’t have to feel guilty about having take n you with them too.
Praying for the family! Just remember that he will be whole in the next life!
Prayers lifted for your brother and you and the family.
He will be body surfing and running in the sunshine soon. God Bless him for his long suffering.
We pray that our loving Heavenly Father would strengthen you, comfort you, and give you His peace!
Good luck to you.
So very sorry to read this. Will keep you and your hero in my prayers for comfort and peace to both of you.
Nothing trite about it - cherish the opportunity. Prayers that your brother gets to run and jump and revel in his new body and never be discouraged again. Prayers that God touches all his loved ones with the knowledge of His goodness and Love and eases the pain of your loss.
God Bless.
Prayers for your wonderful brother, and you are right, having a chance to say goodbye is an incredible gift as is surrounding him with love and faith. He has gone through incredible hardships in his like and handled it well. He goes to his God knowing this and knowing he will be greeted with the words “Good job!”
Praying for your brother and all who love him.
Being able to say goodbye is a precious gift! Love never dies. God bless you all!
I’m very sorry. Prayers are on the way.
