In his Encyclical Letter Ingravescentibus malis, Pope Pius XI insisted that, "Among the various public prayers which we successfully address to the Virgin Mother of God the Holy Rosary occupies a particular and distinct place. In the time of the Crusades one voice, one single supplication arose from all people throughout Europe. See here. Today also, the people must seek by their insistent entreaties to obtain from the powerful Mother of God that the enemies of Christianity and human civilization be deterred, and that true peace may shine upon tired and disturbed men."
If this be true - and it most certainly is - why are our ""shepherds" (for the most part) today in the Catholic Church remaining silent about the efficacy of this most powerful spiritual weapon? Could it be that many of these clerics are simply anxious to provide cover for the supporters of Satan and their crusade against Christ's Church?
The Universal Living Rosary Association (of which I am proudly a member), in their booklet on Father Mateo's Rosary Meditation, reminds us that, "The Heresy of Worldliness chiefly among the well-to-do and the ruling classes is this: Drink, dance, enjoy yourself, drain the cup of all the illicit pleasures and so make life a carnival and one unending round of pleasure without the least concern about death, judgment and eternity! The worldling lives or rather vegetates in a noisome swamp. And, all the while, in the somber underground, devious plots are being woven by secret societies to hold the Church in check, and to counteract Her work through secularized legislation.....The paganized laws of divorce, of the godless school, the secularized state, all tending towards the official ostracism of God and His Christ - all these laws have been nurtured by the modern Sanhedrin of the Masonic associations.

In my opinion, there is no difference between the story about where the rosary came from and Joseph Smiths account of his vision.
If you believe one, why not the other?
You accuse me having no love, because I claim you need an inanimate object to get closer to God.
Interesting.
is the rosary a prayer or a chain of beads?
“...Is there a biblical basis for the rosary...?”
Luke: 1:26-38
The words of the rosary consist of the Angelic Salutation of the Archangel Gabriel; and of St. Elizabeth’s salutation when she was visited by Mary. Luke 1:42
The rosary is entirely biblical.
Does it matter?
It is an object they use to be closer to God.
Some may say it is similar to what many do with the Cross, and that would be a good example.
However, I never heard of anyone saying they needed a trinket shaped like a cross to get closer to God. If they do, I would say they are as wrong as those who need the rosary to get closer to Him.
Unless of course you claim to being attacked by a vampire, but that would be for another thread.
The Catholic Church has done so many good things around the world in lifting others up and trying to restore them, but why, why, why, do they say these things such as this?:
********************************************
... the people must seek by their insistent entreaties to obtain from the powerful Mother of God...
********************************************
WHY??? ... from the “powerful Mother of God”???
WHY not the Hand of Almighty God Himself in Christ Jesus’ Name like we are instructed to do in His Holy Word???
These are not questions made to bash ... these are questions to ask ourselves why in the Name of the Most High do we call on any other name in prayer???
Where is it written in His Holy Word to do as such???
Is Mary now a goddess???
Is she the “queen of heaven” now???
Who came first??? ... Mary or God???
Would there be no God if there wasn’t a Mary???
Then you want to call it Catholic bashing now???
To ask people why do you do it this way???
But, why, why, why, do we insist on going outside the boundaries that were etched in stone by praying to any other???
Yea ... I’m upset with you peeps who keep teaching these things. It hits me hard in the gut. I can only imagine how the Heavenly Father feels when you sidestep His instructions on how to pray, and then think there is someone else over His Holy Head who can answer your prayers better.
There is only one way to the Heavenly Father and that is through Christ Jesus, and in His Name only.
Any other way is like a thief, and a robber.
Yet I’m considered a “Catholic basher” if I speak up.
Should I let you fall by the wayside???
Or should I reach out and open your eyes to see???
Or are you set in “your ways”, that you refuse to see???
You see ... I’m on the outside looking in.
I have no church, pastor, preacher, or clergyman.
No religion, no building, no group. All I have and need is His Holy Word and His Holy Spirit to lead, guide, touch and move me to where He wants me to be, and not where mankind thinks I should be.
So, to all you peeps who follow this type of practiced prayer in any other name than the “One” that was given, I honestly and really truly do love you, but I’m in such total disagreement with these teachings of prayer to any other but the Most High in Christ Jesus’ Name, as is written in His Holy Word.
P.S.
I know it was a lengthy approach, and I don’t mean to attack you peeps who do this, but I’m sitting here with tears in my eyes and shaking my head and saying ... Why Lord, why ... why can’t they see?
Be very careful when you claim the Bible says something it does NOT!
You obviously use a different New testament than 99.9% of Christians around the world do, because that is not what those passages say.
NO WHERE IN THE SCRIPTURES ARE THE ROSARY BEADS EVER MENTIONED!
Here is the passage you allude to. No where is the rosary mentioned.
Luke 1:26-38
26 Now in the sixth month the angel Gabriel was sent by God to a city of Galilee named Nazareth, 27 to a virgin betrothed to a man whose name was Joseph, of the house of David. The virgin’s name was Mary. 28 And having come in, the angel said to her, “Rejoice, highly favored one, the Lord is with you; blessed are you among women!”
29 But when she saw him, she was troubled at his saying, and considered what manner of greeting this was. 30 Then the angel said to her, “Do not be afraid, Mary, for you have found favor with God. 31 And behold, you will conceive in your womb and bring forth a Son, and shall call His name JESUS. 32 He will be great, and will be called the Son of the Highest; and the Lord God will give Him the throne of His father David. 33 And He will reign over the house of Jacob forever, and of His kingdom there will be no end.”
34 Then Mary said to the angel, “How can this be, since I do not know a man?”
35 And the angel answered and said to her, “The Holy Spirit will come upon you, and the power of the Highest will overshadow you; therefore, also, that Holy One who is to be born will be called the Son of God. 36 Now indeed, Elizabeth your relative has also conceived a son in her old age; and this is now the sixth month for her who was called barren. 37 For with God nothing will be impossible.”
38 Then Mary said, “Behold the maidservant of the Lord! Let it be to me according to your word.” And the angel departed from her.
Amen, and well put.
Why would you want to pray to the creation when you can pray to the Creator???
Why would anyone pray to the mother of Jesus when God encourages us to pray to Him???
What is the disconnect between Catholics and God???
All those hours spent praying to Mary could be used to pray directly to God...
It’s pretty weird that Mary is at the top of the list to receive prayer...
How could we accept you guys/girls as brothers/sisters in Christ when you won’t even talk to Jesus Christ???
You know not whereof you speak. The Rosary consists of the Lord’s Prayer (entirely biblical) and the Hail Mary (mentioned above) plus the Apostle’s Creed. And “Glory be to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Spirit.” Also basically biblical.
And you might look at the text of the Wedding Feast of Cana, where Jesus tells the servers, “Do whatever she tells you.”
You don’t seem to distinguish between bashing people for praying, and criticizing people who jump in at every opportunity and bash people for praying.
What I suggested is that perhaps we should all just go ahead and pray.
Sounds like a great retreat.
You said Protestants should pray to God, but your head honcho was talking about praying to Mary. We certainly pray to God, while Rome prays to the ceiling...
And, you may wish to read Matt. 12 or Luke 8...anyone doing His will is His mother. Mary is no more special than any believer.
Further, He CONDEMNED using vain repetitions in our prayers.
Absolutely correct...
Wish all of FreeRepublic.com could have attended. There are some incredible teens and young adults out there all across the US. They deserve our support and love.
P.S. Recently on a pilgrimage to the Holy Land, as I was floating on a boat on the Sea of Galilee, I prayed for unity of our FreeRepublic.com religious forum.
I pray for the same thing.
Yet I pray for that unity to be based upon the truth of Scriopture, not a twisted understanding of the truth as many of Catholicisms beliefs are based.
