NY Gov. Andrew Cuomo |
I’ve held off writing about this because it is so over the top in terms of acceptable behavior from an elected official that I decided to give it a bit of time to jell. I wanted to allow Governor Cuomo a chance to issue a press release saying, I was suffering from gastroenteritis/drunk/grief-stricken-because-my-dog-had-died at the time and said things that in no way represent what I truly think. Nothing that carries the flat-out I-did-not-mean-it apology which I think is required for such outrageous comments from an elected official has ensued.
Rep. Hamilton
It appears that not just the Governor, but the mayor of New York (or, as we call it where I’m from, New York City) are standing pat. They may not agree on much else, but they agree “100%” that people who think differently from them on a whole range of issues are not welcome in New York.
This isn’t about pro life vs pro abortion. It’s not about gun control vs the Second Amendment. It’s also not about gay vs traditional marriage. It’s about two elected officials who, from all evidence, have totally lost their sense of what elective office means. Both the Governor and the attaboy mayor following in his footsteps have taken on attitudes and ideas that are antithetical to what public service in the form of elective office entails.
When you’re elected to office, you represent everyone in the area that elected you. That means, Mr Governor and Mr Mayor, even those who oppose gun control, gay marriage and abortion. You are their governor and their mayor just the same as you are the mayor or governor for your pals and cronies who blow smoke up your skirts and tell you what a “statesman” you are for kicking everyone else to the curb.
It doesn’t matter if you agree with your constituents. It doesn’t matter if they agree with you. It certainly doesn’t matter if they like you or not. They can call you names and drive you nuts with weird accusations and oddball demands all they want. The office you occupy belongs to them. Not you.
Governor Cuomo occupies the office of Governor of New York. But the office belongs to the people of New York.
By the people of New York, I mean all of them, including those that the Governor and his mayoral echo say “don’t belong” in their fair state and city.
Oklahomans who fled for California were called, “Okies”
So will fleeing New Yorkers be called, “Yorkies”?
“New Yorkers welcome? Um.... be careful what you ask for...”
Indeed. You certainly wouldn’t want to deepen your state’s gene pool with fleeing Conservative Patriots.
You think liberals don’t leave their own fouled nests?
DON’T DO IT! Do NOT invite this vile bunch of sub humans to your state!
Andy has a pen and a phone....but no calculator.
Not when their goal is to build a liberal utopia up here by chasing out all the Conservative gun-owners.
However, I do see your point. I’ve spent plenty of time in NC and quite honestly, I think you would welcome, with open arms, ALL good Conservatives from ANY state.
This (we) might just counter the huge illegal Mexican population that is overtaking NC due to your “Sanctuary State” policies. Not to mention the large recent influx of homosexuals taking over towns like Asheville.
They flock to NC. I overheard one saying the first thing she did when she got to NC was to get involved in local politics.
Piece of crap- she helped turn her state into a liberal hog waste lagoon and now wants to turn my great state into another one.
Perhaps I did not understand you correctly. Are you suggesting that conservative, pro-life New Yorkers should not be welcomed to OK, TX, LA or other states the embrace these same values?
I do not appreciate being called a “sub human”. Not everyone in my state is as you depicted. Shame on you. You owe the New York conservatives on this site an apology. You can start with me.
IF you get the pro-life, pro-gun NY'ers, fine. BUT if you get the socialist ones (see Florida and soviet Red Hampshire), you WILL regret it.
Most certainly...Just be prepared for an unwelcome reception of liberal ideas.
It’s beyond belief that someone could pay taxes and support to a state that doesn’t want you.
In other words...You’ve been fired.
Hmmm..I was told different...That all the conservatives fled states like CA and it's all an evil cabal of voodoo worshiping Commies....
Boy, I feel better...I'll try to get out more mom...
BTW, if I lived in a red state, I wouldn't want more people, more traffic, more crowded schools etc., etc...Based on big populations and big cities etc., I don't think big growing population centers are a ticket for success.
But whatever spins your spokes mom.
And follow it up with the rest of us.
I expect liberals to broad brush people like that.
Anyone who is a genuine conservative would be happy to have other conservatives join them and would recognize that people can't be stereotyped.
Well, you were told wrong
Not everyone has the opportunity or means to leave as soon as others think they should.
Does this also mean that there are no liberals in red states?
Absolutely not. Big cities are the problem with NYS. Eliminate NYC, Buffalo, Rochester, Albany and a could other cities and the state is as conservative and red as any other one.
The cities are the problem, not the backwoods where we conservatives live where there are more guns than people.
To illustrate: even the blue states consist of a sea of red counties, surrounding blue metros.
Liberal/conservative geography is largely a function of urban vs rural.
Of course not. For instance the big population centers in Texas are all going liberal...Like most other big towns in other states.
It’s like that in every state now.
Backwoods are nice if your retired. But most folk gotta work and make money, that is why there are big cities surrounded by millions in the burbs....BTW, there are millions more conservatives in and around major populations centers then you'll ever find in the "backwoods" as you say.
And follow it up with the rest of us.
Sub human? What an Ignorant statement. Why not join Cuomo on stage and say that. We live here for reasons apparently you don't understand, try raising a family with kids still in school, elderly family members that need our help and we can't just run out on them, how about not being able to afford to move?
Some of us here are the very people Cuono is pointing his finger at. We in Buffalo/WNY hold protests, get in to politicians faces, have a huge, very active TEA Party, A huge 2nd Amendment group that have been fighting all this corruption for years. I have run for office against all odds, I drove a governor candidate around NY State in 2010 and had personal attacks thrown at me, name front page Wall Street Journal, New York Times, News day and had state wide commercials run against me by Cuomo.
We fight these communists Pri$#s with everything we have. I hate blanket statements like yours. They degrade the very people fighting for our Rights on a daily basis.
