Based on big populations and big cities etc., I don't think big growing population centers are a ticket for success. Absolutely not. Big cities are the problem with NYS. Eliminate NYC, Buffalo, Rochester, Albany and a could other cities and the state is as conservative and red as any other one.
The cities are the problem, not the backwoods where we conservatives live where there are more guns than people.

Liberal/conservative geography is largely a function of urban vs rural.

But most folk gotta work and make money, that is why there are big cities surrounded by millions in the burbs....BTW, there are millions more conservatives in and around major populations centers then you'll ever find in the "backwoods" as you say.
