As I explained back in 8/2013, copied below, if the Republican party thinks that it gains anything from amnesty - from a vote share point of view, it must realize that whatever is gained will be DWARFED by what the Democrat party will gain! Now, I know that math is probably not a strong point for politicians but they (Rs) surely have got to understand this, no?
From 8/2013:
The reason this is a bogus argument Is shown in the simplest form in the pie chart following. Anyone, particularly a Republican, who does not understand what this means should probably not be in public office. The question to ask these Republicans is: if you manage to get 30% of the amnesty vote, where do you think the remainder will go?
The last amnesty under President Reagan resulted in what demographic voting trend towards the Republican party? How did that amnesty affect voting patterns of the beneficiaries? It should be plainly obvious that the Republican party will not receive any demographic benefit from amnesty and even if it does, it will pale in comparison to what the donkey party will receive (see pie chart). For generations, the progeny of amnesty beneficiaries will sing praises to President Obama and lock-step vote for the Democrat party the media will see to this; schools will probably teach it and the resulting green cards/naturalization certificates will probably have Obamas image on it.
So, Marco Rubio, Paul Ryan, John McCain, Prince Priapus (er, Reince Priebus), Lindsay Graham, et al, where would 70% or more of the amnesty votes go and what would it mean to your party and more importantly, to your country? Look no further than CA and NY to see where we are headed
The message these twits ought to focus on is restoring the constitutional rights of all, fostering an environment that allow each person to fulfill their American dream and in general, getting the government out of our affairs. Appealing to certain groups, giving preferential treatment to others and rewarding law breakers is not the solution to winning votes.
Well, in CA if they legalize these people and they come out of the gray market you will soon have to give them $10 an hour for their $3 worth of labor, so you tell me?
How does business benefit?
To answer your question, at Reply#1, look no further than my tagline.
Top to bottom, the US public education system was ceded to the socialists, unti we were captured, persuading 51% of voters to love Marx.
Natural progression guaranteed that the R Party would also fall.
Amnesty will mean the end of American democracy, and the brutal oppression of conservatives and Christians.
You are right. Once these folks are on the path to becoming permanent residents/citizens they will likely have to be paid a minimum wage; so I don’t know how that benefits business UNLESS, of course, there is a continuing stream of those willing to accept the $3.00 per hour. Mind you, there are laws on the books that penalize businesses for hiring illegals - I don’t believe farmers, for example, are exempted.
We do know that the chamber of commerce is looking to support CIR, why?
Sadly, you are probably right.
Just imagine how many conservatives will stay home on election day if the GOP passes amnesty
Well, it will definitely become a one party country and yes, I think that party’s goal is to get us where you’ve indicated.
What percentage of illegal aliens earn $3.00 per hour or less?
I have no idea; I was just using the number the previous poster used.
Guys, I hate to break this to you, but amnesty at the end of the day has NOTHING to do with getting voters.... That’s a secondary issue at best.
Why are democrats after amnesty? Demographics, but not the demographics you are being told about.
Demographics in the fact that the socialist and entitlement programs need WORKERS and TAXPAYERS to work, we are an aging population, and because folks are having fewer kids and having them later in life, the entire ponzi scheme will collapse if they can’t change that fact and get more young workers, regardless of skill or party affiliation on the tax rolls.
This IMHO is the real reason amnesty is being pushed by folks on both sides of the isle.
The Republicans are Democrats. The GOP is a wholly owned division of the Democrat Party and as such has the same goal as the parent organization. The goal is a one party Democrat Socialist State with a token opposition to be dispensed with when no longer needed. The Republicans are enjoying their status and position for now, so long as they are useful to the Democrats as a faux Opposition. When that usefulness ends they will be the subjects of the great Show Trials. The Republicans think they can prolong their cushy livings and their lives this way and that the Democrat Crocodile will eat them last. Politicians as politicians do not have the ability to see long enough to feel threatened by some situation that will not pertain until after the next election and believe that co-operation with the Beast ensures that next election.
Thanks for the link.
HJ, I hear your point but I cannot see how the numbers here will add up. Given that a good percentage of these folks will be low income; their net contribution to the government is likely to be negative - that is, they will qualify for all kinds of redistributive tax credits and breaks (EITC); Obamacare subsidies, Medicaid, food stamps, etc. I simply do not see how this math works. Furthermore, simply delaying the collapse of the ponzi scheme is not a solution.
I agree with your assessment.
Which is why this is so perplexing; assuming these politicians understand what you’ve said (and they should), why do want to do this? It is enraging.
10 million? Try 40 million that are here now. Then add many millions more as Amnesty sets a third of Latin America heading North.
