Obama Administration to Ban Shooting on Public Lands

The U.S. News and World Report noted Monday that the Obama administration, perhaps frustrated at its inability to impose yet more restrictive gun regulation through the legislative process, is once again doing everything it can by executive diktat. This time, the infringement on that which shall not be infringed is to come via proposed new regulations barring hunters and target shooters from millions of acres of public land. Gun owners who have historically been able to use public lands for target practice would be barred from potentially millions of acres under new rules drafted by the Interior Department, the first major move by the Obama administration to impose limits on firearms. With candor that has likely not endeared him to his superiors, a Department of the Interior official freely admits that the idea here is not to make anyone safer: "It's not so much a safety issue. It's a social conflict issue," said Frank Jenks, a natural resource specialist with Interior's Bureau of Land Management, which oversees 245 million acres. He adds that urbanites "freak out" when they hear shooting on public lands.

He adds that urbanites "freak out" when they hear shooting on public lands.

Because they have had that message drilled into their empty heads repeatedly for the last several decades.

It's to the point where local sportsman's clubs and trap shooting ranges, operating legally, are having to defend themselves against urbanites moving into their McMansions near these facilities.

Wow...the Obammunist is really pulling out all the stops. He's bound and determined to get a civil war before his term ends, isn't he?

The source (linked at the article) is from Nov 2011, and the proposal got shot down (pun intended).

Actually saw a leftist propose that ALL land in the US is actually owned by the fedgov and everyone else, from states to private citizens, actually just lease it. And he was serious.

Why doesn’t this blog have a link to the original article? The only article that comes up on my search is from 2011. I’m skeptical.

This is nothing more than criminalizing non-criminal behavior. Now you can be arrested for something that was OK before. No one is harmed. No property is damaged.

This guy is a dictator.

Actually, it was from November 2-years ago. So if this story is true it is a reiteration of a story from back then. Meaning, Hussein may be trying this yet again.

Gun Control that makes sense.

In 1865 a Democrat shot and killed Abraham Lincoln, President of the United States.

In 1881 a left wing radical Democrat shot James Garfield, President of the United States, who later died from the wound.

In 1963 a radical left wing socialist shot and killed John F. Kennedy, President of the United States.

In 1975 a left wing radical Democrat fired shots at Gerald Ford, President of the United States.

In 1983 a registered Democrat shot and wounded Ronald Reagan, President of the United States.

In 1984 James Hubert, a disgruntled Democrat, shot and killed 22 people in a McDonalds restaurant.

In 1986 Patrick Sherrill, a disgruntled Democrat, shot and killed 15 people in an Oklahoma post office.

In 1990 James Pough, a disgruntled Democrat, shot and killed 10 people at a GMAC office.

In 1991 George Hennard, a disgruntled Democrat, shot and killed 23 people in a Luby’s cafeteria.

In 1995 James Daniel Simpson, a disgruntled Democrat, shot and killed 5 coworkers in a Texas laboratory.

In 1999 Larry Asbrook, a disgruntled Democrat, shot and killed 8 people at a church service.

In 2001 a left wing radical Democrat fired shots at the White House in a failed attempt to kill George W. Bush, President of the US.

In 2003 Douglas Williams, a disgruntled Democrat, shot and killed 7 people at a Lockheed Martin plant.

In 2007 a registered Democrat named Seung - Hui Cho, shot and killed 32 people in Virginia Tech.

In 2010 a mentally ill registered Democrat named Jared Lee Loughner, shot Rep. Gabrielle Giffords and killed 6 others.

In 2011 a registered Democrat named James Holmes, went into a movie theater and shot and killed 12 people.

In 2012 Andrew Engeldinger, a disgruntled Democrat, shot and killed 7 people in Minneapolis.

In 2013 a registered Democrat named Adam Lanza, shot and killed 26 people in a school.

As recently as Sept 2013, an angry Democrat shot 12 at a Navy ship yard.

One could go on, but you get the point, even if the media does not. Clearly, there is a problem with Democrats and guns.

Not one NRA member, Tea Party member, or Republican conservatives were involved in these shootings and murders.

SOLUTION:

It should be illegal for Democrats to own guns.

Best idea I’ve heard to date

Guess he forgot about states rights and what the War of Secession was all about. States joined the Union, the “government” didn’t acquire them.

I done some target shooting in public land in AZ. There are cattle that use it, too, so we have to be careful.

And now, it is assumed that it can be done on private land? There is a case that the owner of Rueger(sp) in AZ, has lots of land, and on it he has set up water towers, and the base of the water towers, he’s got material that is set up for monthly target practice. A neighbor complained because, I don’t know, the noise, the frightening aspect, something like that. So, it looks like we may not even get to practice in rural areas that we own.

I don’t know if the case is resolved. Anyone know?
