New York City authorities aren't waiting for their new Marxist mayor Bill DeBlasio to take office in order to issue totalitarian gun-grabbing edicts.
New York City last week started sending out dire notices to residents who own guns that now violate new ammunition capability laws, demanding they relinquish their weapons — and even though the notifications may just be standard police procedure, the text will come as a shock to most Americans aware of our 2nd Amendment right to bear arms.
At issue: Weapons that hold more than five rounds of ammo. That's right...FIVE!
One such notice to a city resident, dated Nov. 18 and posted on Truth About Guns, reads: “Immediately surrender your rifle and/or shotgun to your local police precinct, and notify this office of the invoice number. The firearm may be sold or permanently removed from the City of New York thereafter. Permanently remove your rifle and/or shotgun from New York City.” (see below)

I fail to see how this could be constitutional. Not only does it abridge the Second Amendment but certainly violates the Fourth Amendment on search and seizure and the Fifth Amendments taking clause. Of course courts packed with Obama minded judges wouldn’t see any problem with shredding the Bill of Rights. This country is on its way to becoming a totalitarian state and sadly it may take another revolution to restore our Constitution.
Just read a review on it, sounds like a great home defense weapon and a very good conceal carry. Good choice. I like revolvers too (and I am a southern boy).
People vote for this ignorant BS. They should get what they vote for. I remember reading one time that Bat Masterson, while working in NYC as a sports reporter, was arrested for carrying a pistol, so this nonsense has been coming for a long time. People who believe in being responsible for their own safety should gather up their guns, and follow rich people out of NYC. Let the politicians and leftist kooks have it.

The threat by Bloomberg is real, but I have been cautioned by a retired police officer from NY that this is not an accurate article that it is based on.
I would apply some caution to the accuracy filter on this one.

The more they chip away at them, it affects us all. Plus then the marginal ones move to Pennsylvania and Georgia and turn us like them. I wonder if we as a collective will fight back.

During the Clinton Jihad against "assault rifles", I cut up a margarine lid, used a felt tip marker, and wore the image below to a Salt Lake City gun show. NOBODY, including gun owners would look me in the eye. I deliberately, and repeatedly, walked in front of photographers outside, who were filming everyone who carried an AW, and saw the red light go out each time.
During this last dust-up, I wrote Gun Owners of America that we ought to promote the wearing of this stigma as a reminder of what happens when the people are unarmed. One guy replied that that was "pretty intense". (At least they replied - I never heard from the NRA unless they want money.)
This symbol is just such a horrific reminder, that people shrink from contemplating what's behind it. Try it out at your next gun show and I'll bet you get the same results.
Part of the plan. NYC will once again become a cesspool. Eventually the crime rate will skyrocket out of control and a police state will be implemented with the purpose of ridding “criminals” of guns.
What we are seeing now is the trial balloon. Looks like the 2nd amendment will be fought in NY.

The takers may or may not out number us. But they have nothing of substance to fight for, we have everything to lose life, liberty, happiness, our way of life answer most importantly our families and our souls . We have the knowledge, skills, mend of defense, and food in most cases. Like minded people flick together and besides FReepers you probably know a half dozen or more in your area who share the same views. Really we are not out numbered but in the majority.
