Busy week need to do some catching up.

First I brought some Keystone Meats All Natural Canned Beef. Heated it up in a pan with a cup of water and a package of Walmart Brown gravy mix. It was good eat the beef was fine peices and we just poured right on our mash potatoes. 10 year self life is what they claim and you can order on Amazon. A bit pricey there around $7.00 a 14.5 once can, but though I like spam it would get old. I am told it's sold at some Walmart and its much cheaper.

Second this article will be of interest to many:

I got several of those ammo cans they show at the beginning. Luckily I got the can opener with them. The cat needs to feed himself with small critters and entrails I provide. The tuna is for me and mine.

Everyone should buy a dozen or so P38 can openers to they're everywhere in an emergency. No excuse for otherwise.

This looks like a number of filters that operate on more or less the same principle. This thirty dollar kit, plus a couple of 5 gallon buckets and a few minutes of assembly time, seems pretty reasonable. Does it sound decent to you?

The P38’s are great. I’ve had one on my keyring since I was a teenager. Throw in a few P51’s also. Much easier to use as one ages.

I still use a P38 in my kitchen for all my canned goods. In the Marines we always called these “church keys”.

“Everyone should buy a dozen or so P38 can openers to they’re everywhere in an emergency.”

I bought a number of those and gave them as extra Christmas presents.

I bought this solar battey charger from C Crane and it works very good. Two notes however ‘full sun’ means in the SUN not in some light and it won’t charge 9v.

Most useful for opening a femoral artery if you aren't careful. I keep mine taped when my keys are in my pocket. ;)

I’ve been learning to grow food since last March. If you have never grown food but you have stored veggie seed to plant if the SHTF, you will most likely starve. There is more to growing food than throwing some seed around. I’m finally at the point I know how to get seed to sprout and know when to plant the baby plant and what to plant it in so it will grow and how to keep it from being eaten by squirrels/birds/other varmints.

If you have never grown plants but think you will in a SHTF situation, you need to start that process so you can actually do it.

The first step in dealing with SHTF is to live in an area that has everything you need, and when you need it.
I can not imagine living in such areas as the desert southwest, or any area where one would have to have a car, or dependence on big box retailers.

““church keys””
____________________________________
Even back from my childhood, a “church key” was an opener for a can or bottle of beer. I never heard it used for anything else ;)

“I bought this solar battey charger from C Crane and it works very good. Two notes however ‘full sun’ means in the SUN not in some light and it won’t charge 9v.”

I have several of those and they are slow chargers and it's true they don't charge 9v.

I bought a 20 Volt solar panel with a charger and it fast charges all batteries including 9 volt. Four AAs in full sun will charge in one hour. This is my power source if power goes out so I have the best rechargeable batteries in AA, AAA, C, D, 9 volt. They can be recharged 1,500 times and I have double the amount I need so some can always be charging. Having power is so important, I fixed it so I will have power.
