Democratic leaders in the Senate are rejecting an offer by Sen. Susan Collins (R-Maine) to end the budget impasse, arguing it asks for too much in return for too little, aides and senators tell POLITICO.
The Collins plan, which was drafted with input from West Virginia Sen. Joe Manchin (D) and other senators, called for a six-month extension of government funding and a debt limit increase through January. But it asked for a delay in Obamacare’s medical device tax for two years and a requirement for income verification for Obamacare subsidies.
.....This means that there is little time for the two sides to reach a deal — and the talks may now shift to Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid and Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell to try to find a way out of the crisis now that the House Republicans have hit an impasse with the White House. Reid and McConnell met Saturday morning.
Asked about the Collins plan, Senate Majority Whip Dick Durbin (D-Ill.) said the problem was that Republicans couldn’t agree among themselves.

Hysterical. Republicans are trying to cave, and the Dems won’t let them. Soon, instead of repealing or defunding Obamacare, Dems will be demanding new social spending or to restore the sequester.
The RINOs need to shut up and keep up the heat to defund Obamacare, adopt the Penny Plan, and turn this train wreck of a government around.
Wasn’t it Snowe or Collins who voted for it on committee that allowed Obamacare to pass the committee stage and go to the floor for a vote?

that’s the irony, the republicans DC “cave man” leadership want to surrender, but the democrats won’t let them !
that’s why i still think we can get to the debt limit, not by any deliberate plan, but by backing into it by accident
All they (WH & Congress) have been doing for the last 5 years is kick the can down the road.
How many of these budget/ceiling crises have we seen under Obama? Too many.

Have they even passed a budget? I must have missed it.
This is like Yasser Arafat’s refusal of the surrender by the Israeli’s at Camp David.
