Sources within the Department of Transportation have revealed that their plan to use National Guard resources to close federally funded Interstate Route 495, circling the nation’s capital, have been approved by unknown White House officials and will be implemented on Friday morning, October 11, in order to thwart the three day Trucker slowdown announced on the Capitol Beltway starting that date, using the federal government shutdown as justification.

Wrong - there is about 200 feet of the Wilson Bridge in DC, so they are physically capable of putting a road block there, if they had the legal authority to do so.
Fortunately, they do not, and if federalized, could not because it might come under Posse Comitatus.
Agree that this must be satire. We had to destroy the village in order to save it. No way 495 would ever be shut down by the feds or any other government entity. Those of us who live in the DC metro area (I live inside the Beltway in VA) know this is a fabricated story.

The Posse Comitatus Act was intended to prevent the use of federal troops in the sovreign states to enforce ordinary civil law. It does not apply in Washington DC as it is not a state, even though there has been a reluctance to do so.
Recall the images of US Army Military Police during the Vietnam anti-war demonstrations at the Pentagon.

Guards do not enforce law. a fine line I admit but still a line.

Actually I-495 is mostly not in DC. It is mostly in VA and MD. I-395 is mostly in DC.

This article is not a “warning” about some Beltway Shutdown. It’s all about promoting some upcoming converence. And to get your attention - it lead with a fantastic story.
