Why Sukkot Is Yeshua’s Real Birthday [Today!]
Jewish Voice Blog ^

Posted on 09/22/2013 5:26:16 PM PDT by Errant

Sandie Zimmerman, wife of Jewish Voice’s Messianic Rabbi Jack Zimmerman, shares fascinating revelations about the true time period of Yeshua’s (Jesus’) birth in this YouTube video.

You will be surprised to learn it wasn’t December 25! By looking at the biblical account and the timing of the Jewish festivals, you will be astounded at the fulfillment of both prophecy and the historical elements that clearly point to Yeshua being born at the time of Sukkot (Feast of Tabernacles or Feast of Booths), not in December on Christmas.

Actually, depending on when Zacharius, John the Baptist’s father served in the Temple, gives a possible date of...NOW OR, around Dec. 25th.

I tend to suspect that the Christians in the Roman empire were not so ill-informed, stupid, and dull as to get the date wrong after 200 years or so (when they first started celebrating Jesus’ birthday), and Christmas has NEVER been celebrated in the Fall.

So sorry Messianic Jews, Sukkot is NOT Jesus’ birthday—and 99.99% of Christ followers in history agree. You may want to get on the bandwagon and celebrate the date Jesus’ followers have faithfully followed for at least 1700 years.

So you can explain those shepherds watching their flocks in late December, right?

FYI, for over a thousand years the Catholic Church was notorious for slapping Catholic Holy Days on top of "pagan" Holy Days, and building churches on top of "pagan" Holy Sites.

And right around December 25, there is the Winter Solstice, which is celebrated by the "pagans" as when the sun "stops" and then restarts after three days of apparent immobility in the the zodiac, being "born" as the "new sun(son) on... what a coincidence... December 25th.

Grow up. You want to be a Christian, fine. But at least acknowledge the existence of the rest of world history before you spit.

Well I suppose if one is Jewish these dates make a difference...since they were directed to the Jewish People....however in Christ we are complete in Him...the observances of all the laws was met in Him...and so He becomes our all in all.

So no...Jesus set us free from the Jewish rites, ceremonies and religious feasts once were commanded. Now we celebrate Him and what He has done for us.

To say that God is “incensed” when we celebrate His birth on a particular day...puts a person back ‘under bondage’ to these rites and celebrations once offered to the Jewish people.

Who Christ has set free is free indeed.....

Amen, amen.

Jews did not celebrate birthdays. Pagans did. On only 2 (maybe 3) birthdays in Bible, someone died. Pharoah’s, Herod’s, and perhaps Job’s first children.

Early Christians did not celebrate Jesus birth for first one or two hundred years, and even condemned the practice when pagans wanted to introduce it.

We are specifically instructed, on the other hand, to celebrate not His birth - but His death - often. The dates of His birth or death are not important. What occured in his death is all-important. Our salvation. Proven by His resurrection.

Don’t know, don’t care. I’m an atheist. I don’t believe in Zeus.

Not caring about not knowing is not atheism, it's sloth.

And it's certainly nothing to brag about.

<...”Actually, no, he (Christ) only completed some interim fulfillment's”....>

Well yes he did fulfill all that HE said HE would and did. His last words were..”It's finished”....all the law was fully met in Him...all the requirements HE met through His life, death and His Resurrection. IF we're going to keep old testament laws, then we better make sure we keep all of them,... including all implied laws of adultery by thought and murder by hate.... Which of course is impossible, except in Christ.....

What christian do you know today who claims to follow the Old Testament law is going to Jerusalem three times a year? Because that is the law of God. .....What christian follows the law of splashing blood on the door posts? That also is the law of God.

But you see, there are some groups who want to pick and choose (depending upon their traditions) what Old Testament laws they want to keep, and which ones they exclude themselves from....... But the law isn't a salad bar where we take what we want, and leave the rest. If we are indebted to one law, we're indebted to all the laws.

Christ set us 'free' from those restrictions...once and for all.

You pick a strange way of celebrating your unbelief. Why would you post in this thread, then deliberately (yet falsely) equate Jesus with “Zeus”, there is not historical or theological connection.

No, absolutely not.

The feasts are commanded to all.

Your misunderstanding is a common one but it just fails in the scriptures.

Yehova has given us the fassts and is definitely insenced when we celebrate pagan feasts.

Yeshua set us free from the Pharisees Takanot and Ma’assim, not from Torah.

You place yourself in bondage when you celebrate pagan days.

You have invented your own private “jesus” that is nowhere to be found in God’s word.

First of all, as a suggestion, it's helpful if you use the actual scriptures, and enough verses that the context may be known (KJV):

14 Blotting out the handwriting of ordinances that was against us, which was contrary to us, and took it out of the way, nailing it to his cross;
15 And having spoiled principalities and powers, he made a shew of them openly, triumphing over them in it.
16 Let no man therefore judge you in meat, or in drink, or in respect of an holyday, or of the new moon, or of the sabbath days:
17 Which are a shadow of things to come; but the body is of Christ.
18 Let no man beguile you of your reward in a voluntary humility and worshipping of angels, intruding into those things which he hath not seen, vainly puffed up by his fleshly mind,
19 And not holding the Head, from which all the body by joints and bands having nourishment ministered, and knit together, increaseth with the increase of God.
20 Wherefore if ye be dead with Christ from the rudiments of the world, why, as though living in the world, are ye subject to ordinances,
21 (Touch not; taste not; handle not;
22 Which all are to perish with the using;) after the commandments and doctrines of men?

16 Let no man therefore judge you in meat, or in drink, or in respect of an holyday, or of the new moon, or of the sabbath days:
17 Which are a shadow of things to come; but the body is of Christ.

The bold section of verse 17 is Paul verifying that the feasts are shadows of things yet to come. However, that wasn't the reason of this message here. Paul is telling the Colossians not to follow the made up rules of man - this is exactly what the Messiah taught the disciples to do. Yeshua even set out to break the rules of the Pharisees (e.g., healing on Sabbath, Wine out of holy water, etc.) intentionally. One reason was to bring attention to the very specific command of the Almighty: not to add to or take away from HIS commandments, and to let everyone know they were wrong to do so.

I will stand on what Christ has said that He did....He freed us from the bondage of sin and death..and that included the requirements of the Jewish Law....which was fully and completely met in Him.

IF we could keep the Old Testament law ourselves, we wouldn’t need Christ.... But no man could..... And so Christ went to the cross and redeemed us from the curse of the law. He became a curse for us, for it is written: “Cursed is everyone who hangeth on a tree.”

If we are truly saved, we are not condemned by the laws that God gave to Israel. ....Jesus took care of that—it was the whole point of His life, death and resurrection..... If His atonement was sufficient (and it was) then the Old Testament law holds no condemnation for us. Jesus Himself told us very clearly in Matthew chapter 2

Christians do not celebrate pagan feasts.....and neither do I. So you are assuming that which isn’t so....I do not live by Jewish Law...which was given to the Jewish People..and which they could not satisfy...no man can.

Again... God knew man would fail and thus sent His son to have victory over what man could not do himself....Jesus fulfilled ALL the requirements of the Jewish Law...there is no mistake about that..... To say otherwise means His life, death, burial and resurrection did not satisfy Gods redemption for man.....and thus man has no hope... for if you sin in one of the least of the commandments you are guilty of them all...

We are fully redeemed by the righteous fullfillment of the Law in Christ.... or we are doomed...there is no middle line.

>> “Christians do not celebrate pagan feasts.....and neither do I” <<

.
I took your remark to mean that you celebrate Christmas, and Easter, which are definitely pagan feasts that have no relationship to Yeshua whatsoever.

Yeshua fulfilled the spring feasts, and the intermediate fulfillment of Sukkot. He also fulfilled the prophecies of the Lamb of God that paid the sins of the world.

Torah is not fulfillable, since it is just a set of cammandments. Yeshua stated that Torah is to be unchanged until all things are fulfilled and his enemies are made his footstool. That is yet to happen, as Satan prwesently rules the world, and Yeshua’s millenial reign has yet to begin. Also the First Resurrection is yet to come, and will happen at the last trump of Yom Teruah as Paul pointed out in 1Thessalonians.

The rest of your post creates your own Bible, and is thus unaddressable.

No doubt Mary and Joseph should have made reservations via the internet.

They couldn't -- they hadn't given birth to Algore yet!

and that included the requirements of the Jewish Law....

Again, the Almighty's commandments and the Takanot/Ma'asim (laws) of the Rabbis are not one in the same. The latter can be safely ignored, disregard the former and your on your own.

IMHO Jesus’ birth lines up with Channukah — The Festival of Lights. The Festivals do seem to line up with major events in history/Jesus’ life, but I don’t believe Sukkot is His birth event, I think it is an end of time event....which culminates with the Feast of Trumpets.
