Keep them fed and entertained

1 million dollar question is: „How is the collapse going to look like, and when is it gonna start?“

So there are numerous opinions, and also numerous ideas about how it is gonna look, when it is gonna start and whatever.

And big truth is that „sheep“ people (non preppers, non survivalists) are not gonna see it coming and it is understandable, but also lot of real preppers are blind.

Some of us are „too deep“ and „too blindly“ buried into the BOB, BOL, SHTF, WROL and other discussion and arguing about „what knife to have when SHTF” and God knows what else. Many think one day lights go out and darkness all around, hell breaks lose. But this only happens when governments make big mistake or nature finally gets back at us.

I believe government and corporations just turn off light slowly. Hand out pocket lights that people can see small area around them but not big picture.

I think it is the noise I will miss the most. I hate noise, I long for silence. What is the word “ironic”? The sound of power as it streams along the lines, the TV news in the morning, Mark Levin streaming. . .

No, it’s my bed I shall miss the most. Not the mattress that forms to my body, though that is nice, but the peace I feel that allows me to sleep. What if that peace was gone?

I am prepared for the possibilities, not for the realities. The discomfort of a storm passes...eventually, but social upheaval?

Thanks, I’ve been googling since I posted and they seem pretty established and reputable.

I just ordered 30,000 calories from them in #10 cans.

“The discomfort of a storm passes...eventually, but social upheaval?”

You have moved from the mechanics of a breakdown to the societal breakdown that occurs after the mechanical breakdown.

If society breaks down, location matters and I don’t mean head for the woods and camp under the moon. Your situation is not like others, not like mine, so no one plan works for everyone. The main thing is have a plan that works for you to be as safe as possible from the Zombies. Once you have done that and I’m sure you have as I have, then we have to live life with faith in God that all will be well with us. Worry only makes us “tired”, not happy.

I agree Marcella.

I feel more pensive than worried.

Kind of like preparing for a trip, but I’m not sure where I’m going or if I’ll like it when I get there, but I prepare for the drive anyway.

The long term, well, God has His plan for me and mine, I trust that He will reveal it as needed.

Does anyone here know the reputation of the “Emergency Essentials” store?

I have bought a bunch from them. I have eaten some of the dehydrated food I've stored and it is good. I will get more from them when I can.

They have a sell going on and I just made a small order of #10 cans that really fits my niche.

In my case I anticipate never tasting the food, it is just for storage.

I have ordered some things from Emergency Essentials. They have a pretty wide selection of stuff, and it comes in promptly. Have had no problems.

I also like the LDS on-line store. They have very reasonable prices for the limited items that they carry. Especially handy is their starter kit, which contains enough food for 1 person for approximately a month.

It is in #10 size cans and good for long term storage. We also bought several cases of flour from them, because our local stores had bugs. After throwing out 3 packages from three different stores in town, I just figured we were better off with this.

I grind wheat that I have grown and harvested and add to this flour about 50/50 which makes it more nutritious. Wheat looses more than half its nutrition within 72 hours of grinding.

They have some water filtration, mylar bags, etc. Like I said-limited selection, but decent prices on the food stuff, and there were no shipping costs at the time I ordered.

Link is below in case you want to check it out.

Those outside the immediate city will not be able to get tv reception these days. Stations have reduced their antenna range significantly since the change over a few years ago.

I won't miss the noise. I often think of growing up in the country when you could hear the birds, locust, cattle and the wind blowing through the brush. Sounds travel far. Sometimes you could hear a tractor on a neighbor's farm or a truck on the road a mile away. I would sit out on the porch and just listen. There was vastness to the quiet. At night, if the wind was just right, I could hear the football game miles away in town.

From a prepper's view, the quiet will give you a heads up on people getting too close to your property. That is until they learn about the quiet.

Places you live in get smaller, you work longer and get paid less. You eat cheaper lower quality stuff and have less time for other things. You expect less and less from things around you. Quality of things get lower. You cant expect to have secure job or secure anything. You get used to live with worry.

Some of us are seeing this already.

Ever notice how many of the people using EBTs are heavily tattooed? Those don't come cheap - $200 or more, depending on size and detail. My point is, if they can afford tattoos, why do they have EBTs?

They make money selling drugs and all sorts of other illegal activities. The underground economy is huge.

They don’t have to be drug dealers, thieves or prostitutes. These folks can do child care, car repair, construction side jobs, house cleaner etc. All legal activity but underground so that they still can keep benefits.

Always satisfied so far.

You probably already saw this:

They are having a very good sale on #10 cans of Mountain House freeze dried foods with 25 year storage life - 40% to 50% off regular prices.

Also, free shipping on orders of $150 or more.
