Evidence Points to Use of Chemical Weapons by Assad Regime

Is the President of the United States certain chemical weapons were used to kill innocent civilians in Damascus last week, and is he certain that the Assad regime was, in fact, responsible for the attack? Is the evidence clear and compelling? Will such evidence stand up in the court of public opinion? The U.S. administration thinks so, and will make the evidence public soon.

We are told such evidence will include:

Intercepted telephone calls between Assad regime officials and military leaders discussing the chemical attack, picked up by U.S. intelligence.

Intercepted communications from the Syrian military picked up by Israeli intelligence.

Satellite imagery.

First-hand accounts from doctors who treated thousands of victims in Syria.

“The Obama administration believes that U.S. intelligence has established how Syrian government forces stored, assembled and launched the chemical weapons allegedly used in last week’s attack outside Damascus, according to U.S. officials,” reports the Washington Post. “The administration is planning to release evidence, possibly as soon as Thursday, that it will say proves that Syrian President Bashar al-Assad bears responsibility for what U.S. officials have called an 'undeniable' chemical attack that killed hundreds on the outskirts of the Syrian capital. The report, being compiled by the Office of the Director of National Intelligence, is one of the final steps that the administration is taking before President Obama makes a decision on a U.S. military strike against Syria, which now appears all but inevitable.”

Of course Russia is just as sure that the rebels used the chemical weapons so... It doesn't really matter. If Assad follows through with his threat to attack Israel,it won't matter who started the whole mess. And Isaiah 17 will be fulfilled in front of the whole world!

It would be a rebels dream to have it blamed on Assad. But of course...no infiltrators in that game!!

Even if this evidence is true, is it still the basis for the United States to declare war on Syria? Should it not be debated in Congress and military action done only after a Congressional vote authorizing military action? Is the US ready for the probable Syrian response which is likely to be a missile attack on Israel? Will the US support Israeli attacks on Syria and Iran? The Russians may very well be right. An American attack may lead to a catastrophe.

Is this the same info that was leaked this morning in which the Syrian general (?) was asking what the hell was happening? Not exactly proof that the Syrian army used the nerve gas.

Well UN inspector Carla del Ponte disagrees. She is interviewing people on the ground in the area, and collecting info and reports that the evidence she has seen concludes the rebels are the ones who used the chem weapons. She says there is (as yet) no evidence supporting the claim that the Syrian govt used the weapons.

Any action should need Congressional approval.

Assad has provided safe harbor for terrorists for decades. He deserved what’s coming to him.

That said, the U.S. needs to make sure we aren’t backing worse. And I’m not at all confident that we are.

I assume the evidence is from the usually reliable sources that told us about the Iraq mushroom clouds.

Let me guess. The same Obama officials people who tell us what the unemployment numbers are each month are also
telling us that, “Fer sure, Assad used the gas.” There is no ability to revise the numbers upward later when no one is looking in this case.

Because the Obama administration is just such a vast reservoir of credibility. I have absolutely no confidence that Obama and his lying propaganda ministry (the corrupt MSM) would ever tell us the truth.

assad doesm't wamt to attack Israel no way no how. assad mistakenly thinks the west cares. They don't. At any rate, assad knows damn well that Israel could wipe Syria off the face of the earth in a single heartbeat.

Carla del Ponte is not "on the ground" in Syria now, and the comments you cite she made back in May. I am not sure that she was on the ground then either. The UN investigatory commission back in May could not conclude who did it.

Obviously a false flag. They have been staging military for at least two week for an assault. Polls show only 9% of those polled favored a Syrian war. People are aware that Obama has positioned us on the side of Al Qaeda. The Administration needs a diversion from the Obamacare funding debate and the newest scandal of his half brother’s deep involvement with the Muslim Brotherhood and Obama’s favoritism to that organization. Per scientists, the white foaming at the mouth shown in the pictures of victims is inconsistent with biological reactions to chemical weapons.
