I will admit that my hostility to birthers has grown over time.

I started out very polite. For my politeness, I was called a "shill," an "Obot," an "Obama supporter," and many other names, some of which are unrepeatable.

Not just once, but literally dozens and dozens of times.

Other language was used which made me reasonably conclude that if certain birthers were present, they wouldn't hesitate to do a Trayvon Martin on me, simply because I pointed out the falsity of their BS.

I finally got tired of it.

Even recently, DiogenesLamp has told me, repeatedly, that if he had the opportunity to do so, he would "beat my ass."

I realize that you haven't been in on the entire conversation. But perhaps that will help you understand a bit of the history.

I also think that endlessly reposting disproven nonsense is offensive. To the extent that people post things worthy of respect, they get respect from me.

Even you, though we seem to find ourselves on opposite sides of the birther stuff, have gotten some respect from me recently by making a very good post regarding the Zimmerman case, which I said I agreed with almost 100%.

If someone posts nothing but bullcrap, well, that doesn't gain a lot of respect from me.

In any event, I tried, in the beginning, to set a tone of civility. Birthers wanted to adopt a harsh, adversarial tone. Okay. They've got it.

Not sure you're aware of the history of Jeff Winston. He cannot be reasoned with. Facts don't work on him. He's made up his mind, and if a fact should be presented to him which contradicts his own made up mind, so much worse for the fact! (here is an example of what I mean.)

He will literally make up any excuse to dismiss any proof contrary to his preferred result. He isn't even consistent in his OWN reasoning. On the one hand, he argues anyone born here is a "natural citizen", (Except for British Loyalists after the Revolution and Except for slaves prior to 1868 and Except for Indians prior to 1924. Other than those several hundred million exceptions, Jeff Believes Born here = Natural citizen. ) but then he argues that this shouldn't apply to anchor babies!

He literally tries to have it both ways at the same time!

His "evidence" is crap, usually misquoted or misdirected claims from people who weren't relevant to the topic, or who have barely tangential relevance, which he then posts in a massive wall of bulk text which nobody bothers to read.

His arguments are a multitude of fallacies, the flavors of which are too numerous to list, but among them are Ad verecundiam , ad populum , ad hoc, and tu quoque. Here is that lie again. He cannot stop repeating it. He is literally addicted to telling this particular lie. He modifies it a bit here and there, but it always comes out as variations on the same theme.

It is the repetition that does it. It's like when someone is whistling through their teeth in an annoying manner, or humming something constantly, or tapping you on the shoulder, or any number of annoying habits after you've told them to stop it. As far as I am aware, every single significant point that has been brought out by birthers - and there have been DOZENS AND DOZENS of them - is bullsh*t.

Let's start with the birth certificate claims.

I can't think of even ONE point out of the DOZENS made by birthers in regard to the birth certificate that doesn't meet one of the following:

Factually shown by someone to be FALSE.

Factually shown by someone to be IRRELEVANT.

Factually shown by someone to be NOT GOOD EVIDENCE OF ANYTHING.

Completely disputed by an expert with far better credentials (e.g., the guy who actually invented most of the technology used to optimize the PDF - Prof. Ricardo de Queiroz)

"Secret" evidence that can't be disputed because the people saying they have it won't even say what it is.

In fact, Woodman's book ripped the whole "fraud" theory totally to shreds.

In other words: It's all bullsh*t. ALL of it.

As for the natural born citizen stuff, I can't think of ONE single point, out of the DOZENS AND DOZENS of points made by you and others, that doesn't fall into one of the following categories:

Shown by someone not to support the claim made. (For example, there is not the slightest direct historical evidence that the Founders were referring to Vattel's idea of citizenship when they wrote "natural born citizen.")

Shown to be in conflict with the way terms were used on numerous other occasions.

Shown by someone to be a misrepresentation of what the person actually said, and/ or of his actual position, as shown by other quotes conveniently ignored by birthers.

Shown to have been taken out of context, and not to mean what birthers claimed, when understood in the context it was said.

Shown to be simply a false claim.

Shown to be irrelevant to the claim made.

Shown by someone to have been made by someone who was not an authority, or who was at least matched or (far more often) completely overruled by a far greater authority.

So in other words, the "natural born citizen" claims by you and other birthers are ALL BULLSH*T. ALL OF THEM.
