In this video, a group of officers arrive at a home and, through a closed screen door, demand that the occupants come outside.
The unidentified man inside, along with his female companion, demand that the officers produce a warrant, but they dont.
When the police continue to demand that they come outside, and order that both occupants raise their hands, the man responds that he doesnt live in a police state with martial law. He also warns the police that he is video-recording everything.
Eventually, the police breakthrough a side door and tase the man with the video camera. It sounds as if his female companion may have been tased as well.
Remington 870. See in Ohio we have Castle Doctrine.
Get a vicious young hungry lawyer ASAP.
I was wondering if anyone here has any serious thoughts on how to better handle an event like this....As a former PEACE OFFICER, I would have gone to the door asked “Can I speak to you about...XYZ?.” “Nope.” “OK it wasn’t about a crime, just needed some info.” and I would have left. HOWEVER, if I was there because I knew someone inside had committed a crime, I would be prepared with a warrant that laid out everything (name, location, offense, etc.) “”you want to come outside so I can arrest your butt and not endanger your family?” ‘Nope.’ At the point the door comes down, the warrant is in his hands and everyone in the house is under the gun for MY safety. Simple.
Oh no. That’s totally probable cause. You could end up dead from a sniper’s bullet.
Serious thoughts: don't lie to a cop - it makes them angry. I suspect the false statement I quoted is what set the cop off.
That is unfortunately the probable truth and if he continues to cause trouble, his children will be taken from him and the police will charge him with resisting arrest and whatever else is handy. Also, if anyone has more detail on this case or follow on actions, that might give a more complete picture of what happened.
Why were the police there in the first place? Were they claiming a crime was in progress?
Unless there was a murder/rape/child molestation etc. in progress, there is absolutely no excuse for what happened (Captain Obvious).
Maybe Bambi’s hearing voices.
Despite the sensational (and disturbing) headlines, there is a lot of pertinent information lacking in the brief story, which should be available.
The police did not produce a warrant. Aside from being mouthy, the only crime this guy committed was knowing his Constitutional rights.
If the police don’t have a warrant, they have no right to come into your home or demand you come out of it. If the guy just closed the door or didn’t open it to begin with, the cops would’ve had no recourse.
On the other side of the coin, you don’t swat at a hornet’s nest with a broomhandle. Saying that you’re recording them and that you don’t live in a police state isn’t going to make you any friends. Tell them to come back with a warrant and you’ll comply, et voila! No one gets hurt.
save for later read
Yeah, the pigs will wait patiently while you do all that.
Who, What, When, Where, Why, How?????
Much is missing. If I had to bet, at this time with this info, I’d have to say this is a fake.
Sooner or later, we will see this scene played out with firearms replacing Tasers, and blood replacing screaming.
As society becomes more anxious and desperate, as people feel that they have nothing to lose, people will fight back.
Who will fight back? In the beginning it will be people like this: an 80 year old veteran that no longer recognizes his country, a 40 year unemployed Joe six pack that lost his job and wife left him within the same week, a parent pissed off because the government denied treatment for his child with leukemia.
That’s why they want our guns now.
While they shoot you through the door? You are screwed either way. They know that it will take you money to sue them and several years.
Don't hold your breath. There are two really great advantages of government jobs:
#2 needs to change.
Anyone acting with the authority of the State needs to be held individually, monetarily accountable for hardship they cause to any citizen.
They need to be required to carry malfeasance insurance, with the premiums based on risk. Any bad actor will eventually be priced out of government employment.
Sue the cops for millions. Get them fired. Throw the cops in prison.
Until the justice system takes civil rights violations under color of authority more seriously, we are in and headed deeper into a police state.
There's only one foolproof way to tell: Did the cop have a mustache?
What video? I found no link.
