You won't believe how much has changed since then. Notice anything peculiar (other than the fashions) in some of these photos? (Many photos at link)
Joyzee or Philly was my guess.
LOL. The first time I was ever on an airplane was in 1974 on the way to Army basic training.
People (including me) were smoking up a storm. Of course we were relegated to the last 15 rows of the aircraft.
I was born in February of 1960, so I pretty much saw the whole thing. There were some malls in the 1960’s, but many of them were open, not enclosed, remember?
Question.
When did it become a fashion trend for fat old guys with pot bellies to wear shorts in public? It’s an epidemic.
When I was a kid, no males over the age of 12 wore shorts.
Definitely New England region... weird looking people even for the 1990s.
sells a lot of boxers
Don’t a lot of malls prohibit that now?
As if there’s a difference.
Large number of people, back when people actually had expendable cash!
Nooooooo!!!!!
Whether the mall was open or closed at that time depended on what part of the country you were in.
A woman in a blue shirt is...gasp...smoking.
Big hair.
Ashtrays.
No TSA...
Not according to this guy:

OK, so call me crazy but I really LIKED the big hair. I miss those days, though the 80s were even freer.
“Nooooooo!!!!!”
Too late! It is decreed! The return of the Mullet starts here! Those who do not conform will be ridiculed mercilessly!

October 1956 here! Yes, I remember.
I remember the first big indoor mall in our city. When my grandparents came to visit from Pecos, Texas, it was actually a “ must see” for them...all those stores INDOORS!..
The good ole days really were the good ole days...sigh..
Looks like onbe of the exits to Tyson’s Corner’s in the early seventies.
I think it might be Roosevelt Field Mall in NY. A lot of things look familiar.
Also, on the website, a commenter mentioned that he's in one of the pics and he's from Long Island.
Me in the Center (the neighbor girls off to the sides)
Note my Father's VINYL RECORDS in the background.
