I've been thinking, under my tinfoil cap, are they creating the ammo shortage by just buying it ALL up with the play money?

They said they were buying in bulk to save on costs. Now they realize that their firearms don’t all take the same bullets???

A valid assumption. However, how many ammo manufacturers would be willing to refuse a contract from DHS double, triple or quadruple the price on the open market?

It wouldn’t surprise me if they offered a dollar a bullet.

"...and 7.69x39mm."

Might be a little difficult to find that caliber. ;-)

This makes it obvious that DHS is purchasing for the purpose of distorting the market.

They have no use for .45 Colt ammo and very little for .22 or .410.

I am not being critical of either, but pointing out the fact that it has probably been 100 years since any military or LEO organization has used ..45 Colt ammo.

Well, maybe 75 years.

By the calibers mentioned, it appears that DHS folks intend to become cowboys/cowgirls. ;-) Or that they intend to choke supplies of even those calibers, until gun control bills are passed.

With this spread, there can't be any other reason.

That, yes, and they’re giving it to the bloody, genocidal Moslem savages in Egypt, “Palestine”, Syria, Jordan, and Libya.

Meanwhile, we have a sequester, doncha know.
We don’t have enough money for “essential services”, doncha know.

But we have plenty of money to dry up the ammo supply and give billions of dollars worth of weapons and ammo to the Mahometan savages.

.45 long Colts, .45 ACP, .22LR, 30-30, 12 gauge shotgun shells, 410 gauge shotgun shells, .357, and 7.69x39mm.

Hmm - .45 Long Colt, .30-30, .410 and 7.62x39?

Sounds like a bunch of DHS agents put in a requisition for ammo that fits their own personal firearms. The people in procurement either don't know enough to question the purchase or they're in on it.

This is either BS or very very disturbing. I find it difficult to believe they have need of a 7.62 x 39 rifle. Or 22 L.R.

Hmmmm...how about they buy all the illegal drugs on the street in the same manner and then dispose of them...oh, I’m sorry, that would actually be good for the country.

I got three Russian Makarov automatics a few years back.

They are packed in a box somewhere... not sure what type ammo they take. I wonder if I could get ammo for them?

Bought them because they seemed really cheap at 75$ each.
Had two clips that came along with each.

I truly believe that they are buying it for nefarious purposes. That being said, it is still a serious waste of government funds. No military organization on earth would dream of supplying its troops with such a proliferation of calibers. Congress ought to pass a bill limiting Federal law enforcement and executive agencies to using only 9mm for handguns and SMGs, 7.62 NATO for rifles (both the same ball ammo the US military has to use) and 12 gauge for shotguns. Standardization would save the taxpayers a lot of money.

The DHS is doing multiple things here 1) Tracking everyone who posts links to the site and creating a massive database of gun owners (with your comments on the matter). 2) Creating distrust of the government with the obvious misuse of taxpayer funds to buy ammunition not used for law enforcement.

Link analysis software can be used to cross reference database entries like the one created by team Obama in the last election (and openly praised via various news outlets). Big data is here and they can record everything you google or post on Facebook. Storage is cheap and the software exists to keep everything you post for more than six months.

I’m sorry, but this is bullsh*t.

If you, as a patriot, can’t figure out where to get tons of free government ammo, you’re not paying attention.
