On Saturday I got my new plaything...an LG Motion cell phone with 1080 HD video camera. This is opening up a whole new world for me which means I will be doing a lot of videos for the DUmmie FUnnies in the future. For example, I will interview anybody I see wearing a Che Guevara T-Shirt. Also would like to interview Goth chicks so they can explain the Goth philosophy for us. Too bad OWS Fort Lauderdale is no longer around because the DUmmies there would make for great (meaning hilarious) interviews but I am sure I still find plenty of DUmmies to interview for this blog. Today I was sort of experimenting around and decided to provide a public service for DUmmies DUmb enough to visit Jamaica and smoke ganja. As you can see, the Jamaican guys in the VIDEO are warning that is a BAD idea unless you are willing to pay big bucks to stay out of jail.
BTW, this is the industrial park area where I used to go every Friday to eat jerk chicken and pork. Unfortunately, the local authorities shut down that operation which was run by my friend Carlton but I still stop by a lot to visit like today.
A fringe benefit is that I perform the "Underneath The Ganja Tree" song. Is my singing voice not as mellifluous as that of Mario Lanza?
Yeah, I was once visiting Costa Rica and a local offered me Ecstasy which was still something new. The Costa Rican guy swore it was harmless but visions of “Midnight Express” flashed thru my head and I firmly told him NO. BTW, it turned out that Ecstasy is NOT harmless and is highly addictive.
Cool video even though I have no idea what it’s talking about. :)
Oh man! What a BLAST! I just downloaded a Virtual Radio app and am already playing classical music thru my cellphone.
I saw Midnight Express in the theater when it first came out and I was young and I don’t want to spoil it for anyone but guess what tends to happen to men in prison, in Turkey?
Both of us were like what the ... We didn’t ‘celebrate’ anything except leaving the theater and laughing at our friend who was the projectionist and had said it was a good movie. From then on we called any movie we didn’t like his name which I don’t want to say but it was, “Another X X Presents”.
I recommended the phone to my niece who wanted a $2000 camera. ack.
De nada, FRiend.
That upload-on-the-fly thingee will be handy if a DUmmie decides to destroy your property. It’s done wonders to adjust the attitudes of smart-assed cops who thought they could stifle the youtubes of them harassing innocent people.
With this phone I ALWAYS have a 1080 HD video camera hanging from my neck. Always there to record unusual events. I plan on making some money from it. Actually I might soon download ShopKicks which awards you points in the form of gift cards just for visiting certain stores. The cellphone somehow knows when you enter the store and records the points for you. My wife can use this when she visits Sawgrass Mills shopping center and at the end of the day, use the gift cards she earns to buy the stuff at stores she visited.
The $70.00 rebate on the LG Motion just ended and I think they have a $50.00 rebate on it now, but it takes a while to receive it.
I bought one 5 months ago for $150.00 when they first came out and they are great phones, but the screen is a bit small for my old eyes (3.5”)
Also, it is listed as having a 1.2GHz CPU, but actually the CPU is 1.5 GHz.
I just upgraded to the LG Spirit while it still had a $70.00 rebate. Basically the same phone, but with a few enhancements and a 4.5” screen, plus it’s thinner, lighter and has a longer battery life.
I paid $229.00 thru Wirefly.com - free shipping and no tax.
I’m sending in the rebate paperwork this week, so it will cost me $159.00 and I will also sell my LG Motion this week on eBay as well as my old iPhone, so between the rebate and selling my other cell phones, I will come out ahead.
Between the LG Motion and the LG Spirit, I would advise spending the extra coin on the LG Spirit.
If you’re on a budget, the LG Motion is a great phone and the best 4G “Bang for the Buck” phone on the market.
1.5GHz Dual Core CPU
1 GB RAM
5 GB ROM with a provision for a 32 GB Micro SD Card
5MP 1080P HD video and still camera.
Fast 4G LTE
Android 4.0 “Ice Cream Sandwich” Operating System.
Carrier is Metro PCS and when I bought my LG Motion, they had a monthly promo price of $30.00 for unlimited calls and texts, plus 250MB of Data which I rarely use as I have WiFi at home and at work.
If you go over your limit, Metro doesn’t charge you extra but they throttle your 4G speed down to 3G
They have other plans that offer more Data as well.
The best part is that you can buy the phone from Wirefly, Amazon, or whoever is selling it for the lowest cost and still get the rebate.
The Metro PCS service is great and the 4G LTE is fast.
I get about 7 MBPS D/L speed.
Check the map on their web site to see if you are in their service area.
Also, Metro will be merging with T-Mobile later this year and will honor existing monthly plan prices.
Right now, the lowest priced plan is $40.00 per month, but the best part is that you own the phone, you can sell it and buy another one like I did and you’re not handcuffed to an expensive 2-year contract like I was with AT&T, who I was paying $80.00 per month for the privilege of using an expensive iPhone with spotty reception and lots of dropped calls.
The service from Metro PCS has been top-notch. No “dead” spots, no dropped calls, etc...

The prices on these phones just went up and the rebates lowered from $70 to $50 yesterday.
I highly recommend either phone. Check wirefly.com for better pricing and download the rebate form from the Metro PCS site and they will honor the rebate.
The LG Motion is best bang for the buck, while I would put the LG Spirit just a notch below the $500.00 Samsung S-3
They’re both great phones.
You can also put the Video Camera on the Lock screen for faster access, plus the phone also has facial recognition so that once you set it up (easy) the Lock screen will unlock when you look at the phone and you can access your Video Camera quickly from your Home Screen.
Only if you are a NEW customer. I am already a customer so no rebate even before.
Also the battery time on the LG Motion is great. A big weakness of the Iphone is the short battery time.
I called Metro to verify and you should be eligible for the rebate.
Even the rebate form says: “Applies to new activations and upgrades.”
At least it does for my LG Spirit.
I don’t know where to find a Rebate form for LG Motion phones purchased prior to yesterday. You might have to search the web for one as Metro only has the newer one on their web site and it wouldn’t apply to your purchase date.
Are you sure because I thought the rebate was only for NEW customers?
I just checked and the price is now $149 with a $50 rebate for an LG Motion. I bought the phone on Saturday for $99 with no rebate. Same difference but I don’t have to wait for a rebate.
One really cool feature of the still camera is that you can point it and say “CHEESE” and it will take the picture without you having to click anything. I already tried out that feature. Also works if the person you are photographing says “CHEESE.”
Not sure if they have a different rebate policy for the Motion, but the rebate form I have for the Spirit, which is no longer on the Metro web site says “Applies to new activations and upgrades.

I also called Metro before buying to make sure the $70.00 rebate would apply to existing customers that are upgrading.
I would think if you upgraded from another phone, you would be eligible, but you would have to find the rebate form for LG Motion phones purchased prior to 3-31-13
I think you should be able to get the $50.00 rebate they had on the LG Motion purchased prior to the date above.
And yeah, the “Cheese” feature is great. This phone is packed with all kinds of great stuff in addition to being lightning fast. The voice recognition is great as well - you don’t have to type text messages or searches, you just push the Mic Icon and speak when prompted.
My Birthday was last week so I bought the LG Spirit as a gift to myself, along with some nice Bluetooth Headphones and a folding pocket knife.
I'll check tomorrow but my understanding was the rebate was ONLY for new customers. BTW, another great MetroPCS feature is the $5 per month UNLIMITED overseas calls. My wife told me about that about 3 years ago but I thought she had to be wrong. So I called up MetroPCS and she was RIGHT! I signed up right away for her phone and within 5 minutes she was calling South America. Sometimes she calls Europe (Portugal). Right there that saved me about $40 a month in international calling cards that she was using up to that time.
