All-New 2014 Jeep Cherokee: UGLY as Homemade Shoes!

What were they thinking...
As a lifelong car nut, I can assure you I'm about as open-minded as they get when it comes to automotive design... and if FIAT did even one thing good with Chrysler I just kind of assumed the Italians would be bringing some dashing, innovative styling to Mopars and Jeeps over the next few years... THEN THIS!
Pics of next year's replacement for the Jeep Liberty have been released, the 'bold' 2014 Jeep Cherokee: while there's no denying some original thinking here, the interwebs have exploded with derision, revulsion... and cackles of laughter:
"Kill it with fire"
"EpicSuperMegaFAIL face"
"The Catfish"
Those are some of the harsher critiques that greeted Jeep's "bold" new Cherokee on automotive websites around the world within hours of its unveiling.
The all-new mid-size SUV features polarising styling, with the recognisable seven-slot grille sporting a prominent horizontal crease through its centre.
Slimline headlights and larger, squared-off fog-lights and a thick, angular front bumper help cement the new look for a Cherokee that clearly looks as though it will appeal to a different market to the squarer Cherokees that have typified the breed...
Speaking of ugly cars...

They are just trying to mimic the BMW X5....but leaving just a touch of Jeep.
Do you dare to go offroad in it?

If you run it hard enough and long enough, does a panting tongue come out of the bottom grill opening?

When this deal went through, I just said to myself, please, PLEASE don’t make a Fiatized Dodge Dart ... PLEASE!
Now the faux Darts are being made 10 miles from my home. Dart lovers are peeved, Euro lovers (I’m not kidding) want to know why they didn’t make it a HATCHBACK.

Live axles or independent?! What engine!
Jeeps are all ugly, but supposed to be utilitarian. I hate the squishy smooth rides and all the luxury the newer ones have.
I like mine.. No top, no doors, no a/c, no stereo, harsh ride.. LOVE IT

I think it looks decent....but FIAT needs to pull the JEEP Label off of it.
Fiat ought to know better than mess with jeep's offroad credentials...!!

Blend that big “mouth” on the front fascia (maybe by taking the chrome trim off?) and it wouldn’t be drastically different than the “bulky box” look the Cherokee has today.

Ha ... “mutant” about covers it! The grill and air intake below are just hideous ... might be different if they removed the chrome accents to keep them from standing out so much. Sorry, Jeep, but I wouldn’t buy one of these on a bet — not interested in winning “ugliest car in the neighborhood” award!!

It’s based on the Alfa Romeo Giulietta platform, same as the Dodge Dart, making it a ‘crossover’ and not an SUV.
