FOIA and the coming US Carbon Tax via the US Treasury
Watts Up With That ^ | March 22, 2013 | Christopher Horner

Posted on 03/23/2013 8:42:23 AM PDT by Rocky

In November, I and CEI sued the Department of the Treasury to produce emails and other records mentioning “carbon”. See Joint_Scheduling_Agreement PDF

I sought emails and other documents from two offices: Environment and Energy (really), and Legislative Affairs. This action after the administration first ignored us, which they followed with an unfortunate stumble, trying to delay us with fees — even absurd and surely anti-’green’ ones, like $1,800 to photocopy electronic mail, typically copied on a disc for no charge — which fees, even when they’re not mindlessly trumped up like that one, not-for-profit groups which disseminate government information are exempt by statute from paying.

---------------------------------

These documents represent thoughtful advice on how to mug the American taxpayer and coerce them out of unacceptable and anti-social behavior, diverting at least 10% of the spoils to overseas wealth transfers. The major focus is language, how to sell it to the poor saps not by noting the cost or that it is a tax but as, for example, the way to be the leader in something like solar technology.

National and international agencies conspiring and advising on how to institute carbon taxes. The objective is not really to save the environment. It never was. The objective is increasing taxes and government control and trying to fulfill a socialist dream of redistributing wealth. It is abuse of power and corruption at the highest levels in all government organizations in the western world.

If you thought Obamacare was bad, you ain’t seen nothing yet.

Drive the wrong car, there’s a tax for that. Drive too far, there’s a tax for that. Live in the wrong place, there’s a tax for that. Heat your home too much, there’s a tax for that. Use the wrong appliances in your home, there’s a tax for that. Eat too much beef, there’s a tax for that.

Monetizing thin air will be the single most disastrous thing to ever happen to this nation.

The carbon tax. A scheme by the communist elite to steal money from the working people to subsidize their failed ideology.

carbon tax is just a new form of currency via “credits” independent of government.

the power to tax is the power to destroy.

Is all about control ( and deception )...from article

… In addition, people are more likely to accept increases in energy prices if they perceive them as needed to reach an ambitious and positive social goal than if they perceive them as top-down government decisions to reduce oil imports or protect the climate….

This framing makes it more likely that the public will accept the resulting increases in the price of electricity. It also reduces the risk that the decision will be reversed by the next government.”

I just hope conservatives are prepared to sacrifice the Keystone pipeline for our long term freedoms. I have no doubt that the pipeline will only be approved in return for a carbon tax and that’s a price too high.

Agree. Under no circumstance should any carbon tax be imposed.

The evil left and the contemptuous GOP-e want to tax us into oblivion.

I’ve already tested my theory on liberals being greed and envy based. I told liberals I know that I would oppose the keystone pipeline if it meant a carbon tax were included.

They went ballistic. Screaming that gas prices will rise to $10 per gallon overnight. I told them that $10 gas was a reasonable price to keep my freedom and a carbon tax would likely push prices that high anyway and cost me my freedom to boot.

Just the fact that I am willing to sacrifice my comfort for greater freedom just enraged them.
