First off, I very seriously doubt the Pope is gay (on any grounds.... and especially given his advanced age)...
IF the Pope were gay, it would be none of Sullivan’s business so long as the Pope did not flaunt it, and so long as the Pope taught properly concerning it.
Finally, just because the Pope lives with one or more other fellows does not make him gay!
And that would be true regardless of his priestly vows, one way or the other.
Finally, the Pope has resigned anyway, and certainly his advanced age and obvious frailty should be adequate explanation for Mr. Sullivan.
I find such an unfounded allegation to be grossly offensive.
Andrew Sullivan is a conflicted and unhappy middle-aged drag queen. He let his buggery override his common sense. Like many others of his inclination, he thinks that everyone else secretly shares his orientation. Talking about deluded people, he is a prime example. He used to claim he was a conservative, but his bedroom interests clearly are more important than his political convictions.
Truth is Mr. Sullivan fantasies about getting into Archbishop Ganswein’s pants.

I am not really dealing with the gay theory here.
It does seem weird though that he’d remain Benedict’s main helper/aide and also work for the new Pope. The whole arrangement is odd and unusual because usually there is no retired ex-pope living, to even possibly work for.
I would think however the demands of the secretary of the Pope is 24/7 and to juggle two - let’s face it - genuine positions that can easily require two people full time, is clearly unusual.
Has Sullivan ever wondered about the various “assistants” Obama has?
Does anyone know if Sullivan has expressed his opinion about Obama and his “friend” Reggie Love? I would bet he hasn’t and will not.
You know, there’s something along similar lines that Sullivan should investigate. I saw a “Three Stooges” comedy once in which Moe, Larry and Curly were in a Pullman car, all sleeping together in the same compartment. Obviously, it’s clear, uncontestable PROOF of their gayness. Sullivan should get cracking on this right away.

The Pope can be neither gay or straight, he should be celibate.
Any sexual activity by the Pope gay or straight violates Church doctrine.
