It is time. My opus
Self | 1-28-2013 | melas

Posted on 01/28/2013 8:10:56 PM PST by Melas

While the title says it all, I thought a goodbye was in order.

While I've been a FReeper for well over a decade, I must declare that it is time to part ways. While I have the greatest respect for a great many of you, the days where I can in good conscience remain silent about the issues that set me apart from the rest of FReeperdom have past. For clarity, or perhaps catharsis, I'm not entirely certain which, I'll lay them out on the table an call the ZOT™ down upon myself.

The racism: I just can't handle it anymore. FR has become increasingly racist since President Obama took office, and enforcement has dropped. Now, not a single crime can be reported with an "amish" comment, and I've yet to see a post express embarrassment or shame when lo and behold sometimes the perpetrators turned out to be lily white.

Homosexuality: FR is on the wrong side of history on this one, and I'll just leave it at that.

Mostly though, it's the hate. More and more posts reference violent solutions to political disagreements. Some subtly couched, others make no pretense. I wouldn't be surprised at all if I read in the morning paper that a FReeper murdered a federal bureaucrat or a federal judge.

I've learned so much, from so many of you, and for that I'm grateful. I genuinely and truly wish all of you well, and sincerely hope you all live out the rest of your lives in happiness.

I don’t recall Melas supporting either abortion or pederasty.

Uh, it's not about supporting abortion or pederasty, it's about using "choice" and "gay", which in the end is the same thing, because who in his right mind would be against choice or gaiety!

for the Socialists in the DNC, it isn’t just “projection”... It’s a Party Platform.

They also telegraoph what their plans are by accusing their opponent of doing it.
How many times have we heard the Dems accuse Republicans of wanting to build re-education camps?
Quite a few times.
And without any basis.
So we know from that what the Dems want to do.

Boy are you WRONG!

There is not racism, there is exposing of racist HYPOCRACY if the media. When a black or muslim or homosexual or other ‘protected’ class commit a crime, the media leaves that out and so we mock them by saying “it must have been the Amish again”

There is not anti-gay agenda, there is anti-GAY-MILITANCY. (i.e. forcing homsexual agenda on everyone) This is not anti-gay, God loves everyone, and made everyone the way they are- but lying to the public to promote special favors for any group is what we are against.

Are there some stupid people here? yes (i am resiting the urge to name names) And I do see your point about less enforcement- we need to police ourselves more, we are not DUhmmies here.

And the tone has changed- if you disagree with someony “what are you an idiot for disagreeing with my” is ghappening way too often

It's precisely because the Amish have those positive qualities that the reference is made. It's called sarcasm. How anybody could interpret that as sullying them is beyond me.

Calling Obama "Reaganesque" would also be a form of sarcasm but, personally, I would never use that term for one so evil. It might be a generational difference (I'm 70 -- and I don't know your age). Many of us born in the 40's were brought up with the notion of plain speaking -- say what you mean and mean what you say.

While sarcasm or irony is certainly not a lost art for we geezers, it's best applied and most effective in limited doses. The use of "Amish" applied to those engaging in savage acts of brutality has morphed from being sarcasm to a code word, in my estimation.

I may be wrong and you may be right on this matter but we've both aired our respective viewpoints in what I hope is a reasonable, adult manner. We may continue to disagree but I can certainly understand the point you're making and I really do appreciate your response in this thread.

Few of us are noticed when we come and will not be noticed when we leave. Only the truth we represented has value. It is easy to be critical, negative, judgmental, etc. If we look for the good we are usually happier in life. Some situations (loss of freedom, liberty, expression, being deceived by Satan and his lies), must be addressed. It is a relief valve to come here and express our truths.

We haven't crossed paths that I recall. Go well. BE DISCERNING WHERE EVER YOU ARE/GO.

PRAY FOR AMERICA TO BE RESTORED TO OUR FORMER FAITH AND VALUES.

Nevertheless, I don’t like the comments about rebellion. Those posts are inappropriate. No conservative should ever fire the first shot! We are nowhere even remotely close to that!

Rebellion doesn't necessarily mean firing the first shot. To me it means standing up with a show of force to let the tyrants know that we will not be disarmed. I don't intend to fire the first shot, but it is well past time that we marched on D.C. to let the moochers and gun-grabbers in Washington know that if they take their threats any further that we are willing and able to water the Tree of Liberty, FRiend. That is the purpose of the 2A.

Homosexuality: FR is on the wrong side of history on this one, and I’ll just leave it at that.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Perhaps. It is certainly true that we are on the wrong side of the current cultural views on homosexuality. And speaking for myself - I am proud to take that stand. I have not and will never ever support a pro-fag platform. Yes, I know (we all know) the GOP will soon adopt queer-friendly measures in order to attract voters, but not me.
God, Family, Country. These are fundamental priorities that build a person, a family, and even a nation. Our founding fathers understood this, and so do I.
“opprobrium”.
Great word. I’m not ashamed I had to look it up. I only wish we had more opprobrium in this country.
The problem with Bush wasn’t kindness or gentleness, it was bad policy. It was endless war, endless spending, endless expansion of the welfare state.
Do you even know who the first Bush was?
