A FEW years ago, I awoke at 2:30 a.m. to more than a rapping, rapping at my chamber door. It was a full-force pounding of a body trying to break into my little house in Washington, D.C. It was the sound and scenario that, as a single woman living alone, I feared more than spiders in the house.
Because I was writing political speeches at the time, my BlackBerry slept on the pillow beside me. I grabbed it and looked out my bedroom window at the stoop below. There he was: tall, dark clothes, big. He backed up and then raced to the door, pounding his body against it. Then he kicked at it the way actors take boots to the heads of bad guys in the movies.
I dialed 911 and ran downstairs, my 100-pound Newfoundland with me.
I gave the dispatcher my address, let her know that I lived around the corner from a police station and said, Please hurry. She heard the loud noise and remained on the line with me.
I put the BlackBerry on speaker and pushed a heavy armchair toward the door. I watched as the wood expanded with each pound. The white paint splintered some. The deadbolt held at the top, but the bottom half of the door popped open, letting in the steam heat from the summer night. I took that chair and slammed it so the side pushed the door back in line with the frame. I held that chair with everything my 5 foot 3 inches had. My dog sat right by me on the rug, ready...

Not only is Liberalism a mental disease, but this seems to indicate that it is contagious.
Simple solution: don't let Libs have guns, and leave the rest of us alone. Just to be safe, take away their high capacity semiautomatic ego-feeding devices, too.
This piece is just weird. I can’t make sense of it. Why does this woman want the government to take away her 2nd Amendment right? She admitted to already declining to purchase a gun. Is she afraid the temptation to buy a gun will become too great and she will buy one and kill herself?
Can’t she just call the proper authorities who provide bckground check information and get herself on a list?
Wait... This writer isn’t saying that because she’s a nutcase who wants her own 2nd Amendment rights taken away that EVERYBODY should have their 2nd Amendment rights taken away, is she? Huh... Well, if she is a liberal Democrat then we already know she is rude and boorish enough to walk into the polling place on election day and vote for big government to confiscate more tax dollars... from her neighbors. So maybe she is indeed selfish enough to demand that because she is in fear of her own mental illness, EVERYBODY should pay the price and lose their rights.
You never know how selfish the fascist Democrat left can be sometimes. But then, this piece is so poorly written it’s hard to tell what her point is. (shrug) I guess the NY Times will publish anything these days.
The immortal contribution of the American Declaration of Independence is to recognize the existing reality that our rights are unalienable. At least they not a subject to being aliened by others, whether Kings, tyrants, or Democrat administrations. One can presumably knowingly and willingly surrender his rights but nature's God ordains that they are otherwise unalienable.
If someone is so clinically crazy that he cannot be countenance to have a firearm, he does not have a right to a firearm in the first place. Neither the Founding Fathers, John Locke, the authors of the Constitution, nor the authors of the British Bill of Rights considered that a maniac had a right to a firearm. But that is a different matter from taking the right away from someone who is mentally competent and who is possessed of an unalienable right.
Finally, someone suffering from a depression may not through her propaganda project her own neuroses on the whole society to deprive it of its unalienable rights.
Give the lady credit for having sufficient introspection and honesty to recognize that her bouts of depression likely to cause her to turn the gun on herself. Her problem seems to be that her liberal ideology has caused guilt feelings about deciding ALL BY HERSELF that gun ownership is not for her, instead of waiting for the government to make guns illegal for everybody.
Lady, making personal decisions for yourself is OK! Even good! And by the way, for an unarmed person in a tough neighborhood, that steel door was a great idea.
Now they can denied ever owning one.
I got a little depressed after that and thought about eating a bowl of ice cream. ;8^)

“Blackberry thwarts assassin” The only thing missing in this story is the tu tu he might have been wearing at the time of the attempted breakin. If this heart warming story dont make you give up your right to protect you own a## I dont know what will
Both of them told me they wanted to be able to use guns and protect themselves after a recent event here. The local report about the woman home alone with her children when a very larged Amish man drove up in the driveway and broke in the house.
Long story short he chased her into an upstairs attic closet and when he opened the door she hit him 5 times with her revolver. Incredulously, he is still alive in the hospital....The police were nowhere to be seen until it was all over.
Little Psycho Wendy was LUCKY, period. Police actually got there before she got raped and murdered. Usually stories here in Georgia go "Police found one, two, three bodies in an apartment/house at......"
Please take away her right to sleeping pills and to abortion, too, because after having one she is quite likely to experience serious depression
Isnt it sort of ironic that the New York Times must resort to using someone mentally unstable to support their anti gun agenda? Is this the best they have? Does it surprise anyone that someone who is barely holding onto reality is a Democratic, even worked to try to get one elected? Sort of I have trouble with life but the New York Times gives me a platform to tell you how to live yours.
Regards,
Let’s see.....who should I listen to regarding the Second Amendment? Wendy Button or Thomas Jefferson?
Gee, now that’s a tough one/s
why is it liberals have such a hard time with responsibility?
the 2nd amendmant does not require you to own a gun, but this “writer” makes it sound like a requirement. if you dont want one, dont buy one. not that hard.
Liberalism and mental problems are closely linked. Indeed.
Advice from a nut.
...I think its just propaganda....

I suspect you are right. Several days ago, there was a similar push piece by a guy who claimed he gave up his gun after thwarting a break-in. We will probably be seeing quite a few of these first person accounts.
Good summary.
That is the funny thing about liberals. They don’t understand that you don’t have to exercise that right. And since she seems rational enough to recognize she shouldn’t have a gun, voluntarily put herself on the do not sell guns to this person registry.
Unfortunately as others have already pointed out, there is not a “do not let this person on a bridge” or “own a knife”, etc. registries.
And, when you consider that all the mass shooters possessed characteristics of the typical Liberal, it all makes sense...

How about this...if you’re registered Democrat, you don’t get any guns?
Even tho she didn't admit it, I suspect that she's probably already tried...most likely pill overdose.
She's a middle aged, single woman, former liberal speech writer and living in New York. And notice that she used to work for John Edwards........No wonder she's so depressed.........I wouldn't trust her with a firearm either.
