*** PING ***
The breathlessness is overwhelming.
The “big” order for ammo, from DHS, is a 5-year contract i.e. delivery over 5 years, so it’s not nearly as much as it seems. Further, a huge chunk of that will get eaten up by re-qualification and training. I did the math out at one point, and it came down to leaving barely enough for a couple of duty magazines for each armed DHS agent, assuming *none* of the ammo was set aside for training academies, and instead was all allotted to the active-duty agents. Very likely, once you divide the order amounts out by the number of agents each department employs, and account for delivery over the life of the order and qualification requirements, the number of rounds actively carried drops into low double digits.
The rest of the article has some good points though. The gov today looks and acts less and less like it works for the people.
Oh, and the article does engage in a bit of liberal gun-panic too, with comments like “sniper-caliber”. 5.56 and 7.65 are the two common calibers used by the US government, for pretty much every rifle in use today. There is nothing special about them that makes them “sniper” bullets. Now, if the DHS had started ordering 50cal BMG rounds, then I might be a bit worried. Also, the so-called “hollow-point” bullets are what EVERY SINGLE F&#%$ING COP AND GOV “AGENT” ALREADY CARRIES! Once they figured out that 9mm ball wasn’t going to cut it on the streets anymore because the gangbangers were wearing body armor, they started issuing .40cal hollowpoint years ago, and it’s been standard law enforcement issue ever since. This isn’t a new development, and the hollowpoints *are* .40cal handgun rounds; not something you want as your go-to ammo for suppressing major rebellions (or preventing them).
yeah, when I think sniper rounds I think 308, 300, 338, 41, 46, 47 and 50 cal.
What do I know? /s
They must really believe the Second American Revolution is on the horizon. Its a shame so many chose poorly.
Hollowpoints are illegal for military use against enemy combatants per the Geneva convention. I guess it’s all right for use against your own citizens though. I personally prefer steel core FMJ anyways.
I have looked at the terminal results of the green bullets. When regular bullets were gone off the shelves all that were left were the high dollar stuff like the Barnes Triple shocks.
In all honesty there is certain terminal ballistic pluses in these all copper bullets, controlled penetration, expansion and integrity, much more than traditional lead based bullets.
For hunting big game they are now my main choice. They require certain rates of twist and velocity, but the results are far better than the best lead bonded trophy or A frame bullets. And the penetrate barriers quite well, not an AP round but they expand only when meeting a hydraulic substance like flesh.
NDAA
Martial Law
Probably gold confiscation in next 4 years too
Alex Jones and Infowars are not what I’d consider reliable sources of information.
It doesn't get much more ironic than this. Government, which is supposed to protect and expand our freedoms, is now the greatest enemy of them.
You missed the point of acquiring and “training” with hollow-point rounds, which are illegal for use in combat by the Geneva Convention. Seems that “We The People” are excluded for consideration...along with indefinite detention and signing orders to kill America s with a stroke of Obama’s pen.

The amount of ammunition they are buying is staggering: The entire US Atlantic Fleet annual requalification process used about 15 million rounds of .45 ACP circa 1978. What on earth would 500 times that much ammunition be used for, even over 5 years? Why would anyone use expensive and less reliable hollow point ammunition for training?
This whole mess has me losing sleep at night. I think that this regime has planned far more effectively than we have and we are about to find out about it before we have any chance at all to organize and prepare.
I use to think Alex Jones was extreme in his views also, warning of voting machine manipulation and government confiscating our guns...gee, maybe he was right after all on a lot of it. Maybe Ron Paul wasn’t such a wacko either. They said the same thing about John Birch Society too, but look back at the warnings...
The shift from 9mm to 40 came about from the FBI shoot out with 2 bank robbers in 1986,The FBI fired some where around 120 plus rounds contecting with only a few.
They tried to blame poor bullet performance instead of their poor tactics and shooting.
Shooting through body armor is more a velocity thing then a bullet design thing.
The longer ,harder and sharper point a bullet has the less velocity needed. One could make a needle sharp steel core and drive it through armor at fairly low velocity.
Hollow point pistol bullets are easier to stop the ball ammo.
It is 7.62, and it it the standard sniper round, used in basically a Remington 700. It is also the standard 30 cal machine gun round.
At that volume the price different is most likely not that great.
Only one kind to stock, liability with only kid of ammo it easy to say we train with what we carry.
kid should be kind.
