I would like to enlist the services of the Prayer Warriors for the grandson of a little girl who lived in my neighborhood when I was growing up. She's obviously not so little now, but is in need of your prayers.
Keegan James Dondlinger was born yesterday, November 23, 2012, but was due March 4, 2013, three days after my own grandson is due. He weighed 1.85 lbs, but he looks very well developed for being so young and so little.
He's been able to open his eyes, and to grasp his mother's finger.
Part of Mort’s “job” is to keep Oscar distracted from their dog, Maude. Maude is the most loyal dog you could ever want, but she’s old, 15+, and is getting a bit cranky. Plus she’s always been cranky about her food bowl when she’s eating. She thinks she’s Mort’s Mom, or at least Auntie, and tolerates him. He’s a bit over 5, but not around her food bowl when she’s there.
Poor old gal can barely get up out of her bed. But she did eat well when we were there last week. I had to hide her pain medicine in her canned food. She’s a “wolf-er” and never notices it. She has arthritis, which is particularly bad in the hip and leg that got hit by a car about 9 years ago. She was very stoic then, I was the one to pick her up at the pound and take her to the vet. She’s still stoic, and it’s hard to tell when she’s hurting, but she is stiff for certain.
Those little guys are just growin’ like weeds!
Prayers that you find a job soon. I know it has to be frustrating!
they both got Kindle Fires for their birthday from their paternal uncle. I'm not sure how appropriate that was, but so far so good, and you should see them running their educational game apps. Big sis doesn't know it, but she's getting one for Christmas. They still all three like the "games" on Grandma Gato's Ipad better. Ipad does have more educational apps available at the moment. But the twins have been using it since before they were 4, but only on Grandpa's king sized bed, or at least some bed with supervision, on the king they could play by themselves. They were amazingly good at sharing it. Because if they didn't grandma would take away the privilege, and they knew grandma means business.
That is how they learn. Grandma's usually only need to follow through once for the message to get across.
Just look at those guys...growing like weeds. And pulling themselves up and “walking”.
Good job, boys!!

(He weighed in just a shade heavier than one of my great granddaughters, who is a healthy kid today. I wish the same for him! )
Keegan, as you can see by the pictures in the thread, is doing pretty well. Still has some issues with eating. Oscar, the other kid pictured, is my grandson. He and Keegan would be about the same age, within a few weeks, if each had been born on their due date. Oscar would be just a bit older.
They both seem to be very happy little guys. I know Oscar is. Can’t wait to see him next week. Along with his identical twin cousins, K & E, and their big sister, the Amazing Miss V.
He has mi'lady, he has.
I give some credit for that to the Prayer Warriors of Free Republic.
Not with these two. Especially the smallest one, Miss K. Stubborn as June 20th is long. But they know grandma means business. They pretty respect Grandpa too, at least this one, they don't get to see Grandpa Andy much, and their other grandma is a bit of a pushover at times.
Good news, Praise The Almighty!
Since it's been awhile again. A special treat. Video of a somewhat frustrated, but determined, Keegan. Not certain y'all will be able to see it.
Just in case, here's a couple of pictures, new today.
Oscar spent Christmas eve and day with his "other" family, for Christmas, we were with our other daughter, and Oscar's cousins.
Oscar's other grandparents tradition is to spend Christmas Eve in a nice hotel, along with the extended fmaily, and then have a Christmas Day brunch. Oscar is not afraid of heights, although just looking at this picture gives Grandma Gato sweaty palms.
Oscar wishs you all a Happy New Year. He intends to have one, just like he had a very Merry Christmas.
We attended the most informal, but also one of the best Christmas Day services. Most people went to Christmas Eve service, or the Swedish service that preceeded the one we attended. I think there were 3 or maybe 4 family groups in the mostly empty pews. Pastor didn't even wear his robe, just his vestment. But the littlest twin spent much of the service on Pastor's shoulder, which pleased both of them. He even worked her into his homily. The liturgy in the program was NOT followed. But Pastor got his batteries recharge (that was his 4th service in less than 24 hours) in preparation for traveling a few hours to be with some of his children in another city. When his wife walked in at the back of sanctuary, he interrupted himself to say "Hun, look what I've got", referring to Miss K on his shoulder. She helped him too, by holding his hymnal, while he read the scripture, before he picked her up, she only weighs 33lbs (at 6 y/o).
Oscar's cousins, our granddaughters, and their Mom (our other daughter) just before heading to that Christmas day service.
For referance, our daughter is 5'3". Big Sis is 8 1/2, while the twins turned 6 in early November.
The cousins will be attending Grandma Camp starting the 28th, when the twins get the first round. Then all of them will spend New Year's Eve with us, after which the twins will go home with their Dad, and Big Sis gets her grandma camp time. I imagine there will be much sewing in that second camp, along with some math and reading.
All of them got crafts presents from their Aunt, Oscar's Mom. Big Sis got a knitting thing, while the twins got pot holder makers. They've already each made one potholder, with some help from Grandma.

Keegan is finally a big brother to 6 lb 5 oz little girl named Genevieve Renae measuring in at 19.5 inches.
And here she is:
She was born at 2:49am Friday March 7th. Her picture was posted less than 5 hours later.
