Both Dick Morris and James Carville have released polling data that points to a Mitt Romney victory in November. Although they have gone their separate ways, in the 1990s they were both important members of Bill Clintons successful political machine.
While Carvilles Democracy Corps has found Barack Obama leading Romney by a slim 49/47 two point improvement for Romney over their last poll-, the sample universe over surveys Democrats by 6 points with a D-R-I breakdown of 38/32/28.
There are very positive items here: the 38/32 Republican/Democrat Party identification split sharply contrasts with the 34.9/34 Republican to Democrat split reported by Rasmussen who also reports a 31% Independent identification.
This is important because Democracy Corpss (DC) numbers show Romney enjoys a 15 point lead among Independents, but DCs 28 point Independent sample is 3 points short of Rasmussens findings.
When Obama took the 2008 election by 7 points he won Independents by 8 points today he is losing Independents by 15 points 53.4/38.
Moreover the turnout showed a +7 Democrat 39/32 edge over Republicans. The numbers make Carvilles two point Obama lead suspect. Independents have moved 23 points away from Obama. . .. gender gap of just 3.2 points is a drop of 10 points from the gender gap Obama enjoyed in 2008.
Earlier this week Dick Morris released the results of his poll of 500 likely voters that shows Romney leading 50/43. Using a 33/31/36 Democrat/Republican/Independent distribution, the Morris poll personally spoke its respondents.
To add extra strength to the numbers, Morris spoke to 11% of Blacks and 8% Hispanics both of which square with their 2008 participation. Other important data from this survey:
Obamas personal favorable/unfavorable rating is 47/50; Romneys is 48/48.
What is more important the economy or strengthening Medicare? Economy 67/18...

I am hoping Clinton goes in to give the keynote speech and torpedoes Obama
You know.. damning him with faint praise... “Gosh he’s sure trying folks, he never done this before I think he might can do better if y’all give him another chance”
Didn’t Morris say the same thing in 2008 that all signs were pointing towards a McCain victory especially after he picked Palin?
I’m sorry, but I dislike Morris immensely and don’t trust a word of his.
Not my nature to be overly optimistic, but Bambi’s toast.
and SERIOUS :)
The signs were...then the economy collapsed, McCain threw Palin under the bus and refused to kneecap Obama by campaigning on his radical past.

I am also slow to give credence to Morris stuff, but when it is juxtaposed with the DC stuff it tends to make more sense. Just sayin’
The reason why McCain/Palin lost in 2008 was because the economy collapsed, when the stock market fell it was over. It was easy for people to blame Bush for it since he was in office, blame Bush, blame Republicans..McCain/Palin had no chance after that. They were leading in the polls til that point.
Now it’s different, if Obama tanks the economy(Even worse than it already is) it wont help him, if he decides to go to war with Iran it won’t help him because the left will be throwing fits. The only thing that can make Obama win now is if he has his goons have riots in the streets, making sure elections dont take place
The idiot McCain lost it when he suspended his campaign to fly back to Washington to do........nothing.
Well that too but the main reason was the economic collapse, that pretty much killed the campaign..that and the fact that McCain was such an utter bore. Did you hear his speech last night, could hardly keep my eyes open
yeah- somethign like that
I am hoping Obama is having a coniption-fit by the time Clinton is done
I worry more about voter fraud.
Rats are dangerous when cornered.
I put no faith in polls...especially not with the impending voter fraud.
Actually McCain was ahead at one point, but the bailouts and the financial collapse changed all that. McCain was toast no matter what happened after the crash.
