My Professor, My Judge, and the Doctrine of Judicial Review
By Thom Lambert
Imagine if you picked up your morning paper to read that one of your astronomy professors had publicly questioned whether the earth, in fact, revolves around the sun. Or suppose that one of your economics professors was quoted as saying that consumers would purchase more gasoline if the price would simply rise. Or maybe your high school math teacher was publicly insisting that 2 + 2 = 5. Youd be a little embarrassed, right? Youd worry that your colleagues and friends might begin to question your astronomical, economic, or mathematical literacy.
Now you know how I felt this morning when I read in the Wall Street Journal that my own constitutional law professor had stated that it would be an unprecedented, extraordinary step for the Supreme Court to overturn[] a law [i.e., the Affordable Care Act] that was passed by a strong majority of a democratically elected Congress.

I’d just say to the student “What have you done for him lately?”
Just went to lunch with my daughter. We both drank water instead of a soft drink. Felt healthier when I finished.
I can play that boycott game too, Coke.
When you trust a liberal to lead a class the result is students are taught 'what' to think, not how to think.
you should get a lawyer to sue for a refund. Then use the proceeds to learn a trade.
Obama is not now, and never was a ‘law professor’. There is no documented proof that he ever graduated from anything even high school, much less that he was ever a professor.
He is a fraud and a liar. The Leftists at Harvard had him hanging around as a token. And I guess it has been said that he guest lectured a couple of times. As always with everything about Obama, this is another undocumented and unproven claim.
I'm surprised they resurrected this ‘law professor’ nonsense. It has be shown to be a completely undocumented claim. And frankly, I'm tired of hearing it. It is insulting to all of us.
Why didn't they just make him an astronaut, or a race car driver? He never did that either. What's the difference.
When Brit Hume, (much to my dismay) earlier this week, referred to B. Hussein Obama as a “Constitutional Scholar” on Greta’s show, I almost fell out of my chair in disbelief. Calling him a “Constitutional Scholar” is like saying my 12 year old daughter is fluent in Quantum Mechanics. It’s a truly silly (and wholly untrue) statement.
I am enjoying every bit of this comedy. See my new tag line.
Which, of course, would make the author of the article also a liar. There's much BS being floated by all sides right now... Consider carefully what to believe and what not.
I think it is a tautology that any law that SCOTUS overturns was, at one point, passed by both houses of congress. If it was never passed, the Court would never have to review it..
He exaggerated his own credentials and they all ran with it.
The one thing Maureen Dowd got right the other day was calling Obama an “instructor”.
I am pretty certain the author of this article is accurate, and I am also pretty certain he doesn't care much for Obama, considering I talked to the author of the article in person just this morning...and yesterday when this went public.
If you read the article, he explains what Obama taught--it wasn't traditional "Con Law" as most law students know it. The "professor" thing is just a common courtesy in addressing whoever is upfront teaching the course. Nothing more, nothing less.
I wholeheartedly agree with you though that anyone trying to pass off Obama as a true "law professor" is full of crap, because he was not even remotely close to such a thing. Although he does have a Master's Degree in Idiocy.
> is like saying my 12 year old daughter is fluent in Quantum Mechanics. Its a truly silly (and wholly untrue) statement.
Did she seal your cat inside a box with a randomized time-released poison? If so, she might be fluent in Quantum Mechanics...
;)
ONLY a Master’s?
Kaersvang: Marbury v. Madison is the law, your honor, but it would not make sense in this circumstance to strike down this statute, because theres no
Smith: I would like to have from you by noon on Thursday a letter stating what is the position of the Attorney General and the Department of Justice
I don't think the judge acted 100% on what Obama said. I think he was pi$$ed at what the DoJ person, Kaersvang, said.
