While it has for the most part disappeared from mainstream view, the Fukushima nuclear disaster is anything but over. In fact, the situation in Japan has gone from bad to worse.
Bottom line: There is no way to contain the radiation.
Even more alarming is that the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) and other agencies have warned that the nuclear storage pools (the containment units that are being used to cool the nuclear fuel) have been damaged and may collapse under their own weight.
Such an event would cause widespread nuclear fallout throughout the region and force the government to evacuate the nearly 10 million residents of Tokyo and surrounding areas, a scenario which government emergency planners are now taking into serious consideration.

OOps — didn’t finish the story.
After about 10 years, Asians started to settle in. Slowly, they took it over. Net result, beautifully manicured laws, houses painted and nice, graffiti gone, people walking in the street at night (I go back to visit from time to time as a sort of “time capsule” status thing).
Not all Asian neighborhoods are lovely, but many are. And you can compare them to places with a major street named “MLK” any day.
That is a sound explanation. Thanks.
I'm quite prepared to take on some Japanese citizens with green cards. Especially those with good manufacturing skills. Perhaps some of the manufacturing sites can be migrated to U.S. soil. Keep the manufacturing going at a lower transportation cost. It makes too much sense to consider.
I frankly think the mess with the reactors is much worse than the Japanese government is willing to admit in public. That crap is going to be damaging the U.S. west coast very soon. The volume of nuclear material used to generate electrical power is much more than what was used in the two bombs. The material is leaking into the ocean and burrowing into the earth below the reactor sites. It's a major league screwup.
“Radiation inside the reactor 2 containment vessel at the Fukushima No. 1 nuclear plant has reached a lethal 73 sieverts per hour and any attempt to send robots in to accurately gauge the situation will require them to have greater resistance than currently available, experts said Wednesday.
Exposure to 73 sieverts for a minute would cause nausea and seven minutes would cause death within a month, Tokyo Electric Power Co. said.
The experts said the high radiation level is due to the shallow level of coolant water 60 cm in the containment vessel, which Tepco said in January was believed to be 4 meters deep. Tepco has only peeked inside the reactor 2 containment vessel. It has few clues as to the status of reactors 1 and 3, which also suffered meltdowns, because there is no access to their insides.
The utility said the radiation level in the reactor 2 containment vessel is too high for robots, endoscopes and other devices to function properly.”
Our commie whorebag of a “first lady”.
I am not questioning the severity of the damaged Fukushima nuclear facility, just the sensationalism of folks here in the U.S.A. claiming radiation from that facility is killing Americans and poisoning food.
There is more than a whiff of anti-nuke hysteria at SHTF.com, and this particular article is no way near the worst. The following is from the posted article:
“When news of the disaster first emerged we warned, contrary to mainstream experts, that it could be much worse than the Chernobyl accident of the 1980s, that no containment would be possible for at least a few years, and radiation levels across North America would sky rocket. A year on, we are seeing adverse impacts on ocean water throughout the Pacific, and ground levels of radioactive contaminants are well beyond safety thresholds for potable water, food, and soil.”
The following is from another article at SHTF.com - http://www.shtfplan.com/headline-news/the-radiation-warnings-you-wont-get-from-the-mainstream-propaganda-machine_04022012
“Infant mortality rates across the United States have increased by more than 35% since the nuclear disaster, according to a court statement by Dr. with independent scientist Leuren Moret, MA, PhD. A study published in The International Journal of Medicine indicates that more than 20,000 deaths right here in North America can be directly attributed to the release of radioactive material from Fukushima.”
“20,ooo deaths right here in North America...” what unmitigated bee-ess!
Three Mile Island resulted in ZERO deaths. There were 57 deaths directly attributable to the incident at Chernobyl, with an estimated 4,000 deaths due to cancer in the future caused by radioactive fallout from Chernobyl. I haven’t noticed any increase in infant mortality rates in my community, and we’re in southwest Washington State just 50 miles from the Pacific Ocean.
No matter how bad the radiation leaks or fallout gets in Japan, it isn’t going to be a problem for any part of the US.
For crying out loud, we dropped NUCLEAR WEAPONS on Japan...TWICE and nobody here in the US was harmed by radioactive fallout or anything else related to it.
Jeez...people are so gullible.
That is the best description yet. “Whorebag” - quite poetic and concise use of language.
Is it just me or does everyone just feel the gloves need to come off? I’m just done trying to get along with people I believe are deliberately destroying the country.

I’ve asked that my post be pulled.
She’s an embarrassment. This is the way a whore dresses.
Thanks. Do you go to SHTF regularly? I do.
Their two articles were so full of misleading statements, I went ballistic. But there are situations out “there” that do need covering, like the one developing in Central America. People are experiencing organ failures and dying, and the cause is eluding detection.
Oddly enough, the type of organ failures is similiar to those caused by a certain toxin in pesticides, the same used to create GM corn that contains its own pesticide.
Folks in Central America eat a great deal of corn, or maize. I’m concerned that GM corn is the culprit and we are seeing its toxic results because corn is so important to the diet in nations south of our border though not so much here. In the U.S., we don’t eat corn as much and it isn’t as intergral to our diets as in other nations in the Western Hemisphere.
I’m now avoiding all products containing corn syrup - and there are a great many on the American market - so reading label contents is important. For example, we buy Hunts ketchup because it contains cane sugar syrup rather than corn syrup. If Jameson’s starts using corn syrup in their Irish whiskey, I’ dead!!
Michelle Obama is packaged to “sell”, and that “product” is anyone’s guess. I don’t want to think about it.
She will go down in history to the snickering of generations of Americans passing in front of her “costumes” in the “Hall of the First Ladies”.
I hope she’s alive to witness it.
Should the cooling pool fail, 460 tons of stuff falls to the ground and reacts with the ground. Very very bad.
