Poll: Santorum Ahead In Louisiana By Jonathan Easley - 03/21/12
Rick Santorum leads the GOP presidential field by double digits heading into Saturdays primary in Louisiana, according to a poll released late Tuesday by Magellan Strategies.
Santorum took 37 percent, followed by Mitt Romney at 24 percent, Newt Gingrich at 21 percent and Ron Paul at 3 percent.
The poll was conducted on March 19, before Romneys convincing victory in the Illinois primary, and has a 2 percent margin of error.
Gingrich finished a distant fourth in Illinois, and will likely hear growing calls this week for him to end his campaign. One recent Gallup poll found that Gingrich supporters were split evenly between Romney and Santorum for their second choices, but the Magellan poll shows that the former House Speakers ongoing candidacy is hurting Santorum, at least in the South.
In a two-man race, Santorum leads Romney by 21 percent in Louisiana, with 61 percent of Gingrichs support going to Santorum, and only 22 percent going to Romney.

LOL, I heard (on FOX) that the Santorum folks were handing out Etch a Sketch to the crowds today :)
Just my opinion. If he really wanted to hit Romney instead of play to his ego he would ask his delegates to commit to Santorum now instead of later. Give Santorum a boost while such a boost has any legs to help. At the convention it is beyond late, especially if Romney has the magic number in hand...
Cain was Borked, though I liked him. On of his best qualities was being successful leading in business, which I think Romney shares though I don't know how many folks are willing to recognize that. I won't say dems are racist, but they sure got to work quick digging up vague rumors on a republican candidate that happened to be black... Haven't seen that trick since Clarence Thomas, well probably have, but those games all look the same to me...
Bachman simply got slandered out of the running. She is very smart and I believe has the capcity to lead Thatcher style, but lack of that experience hurt her and the early races fall prey to the liberal media. I am sure they were out to kill her prospects before she gained any traction - what horror they would have faced with another intelligent, successful leader that happened to be a woman leading the republican party. They have their hands full still trying to beat Palin back into her place in the kitchen so they couldn't let another conservative women become a positive role model...
No way they were going to let another Texan gain momentum. With all those electoral votes at play, even though they won't take them, the dems want the republicans to spend money there to make sure. They sure as hell don't want money flowing into CA, or NY that might, probably not, but might open the eyes of those voters. They need the repubs playing defense, not offense and it costs a lot to play defense in Texas.
Add that to the fact that we, unlike the dems, want the best candidate for nation and tend to eat our own in search for perfection. The dems don't have that moral obstacle in their voting patterns. They just pull the D lever at least once...
We need to wise up and get the games out of our system. If a Reagan isn't available this cycle, we need to start setting the path for one to develop. We only do that by winning.
Take care.
Gingrich lost every single major demographic in FL and Santorum won a one day trifecta. Results have since shown that my switch was both prudent and necessary as Gingrich has now gone to un-electability and spoiler. Have you reviewed the ABC News-Washington Poll link on Gingrich’s un-favorability ratings?

You misread the reality on the ground. None of us want Romney to be the nominee. We joined Le Resistance and indeed we cheered when Romney won NC. But as Rush says, elections are about winning. If the numbers were reversed, you bet we’d be clamoring for Santorum to quit. This is NOT about personalities, it’s about beating Romney, and even more, beating Obama. We must kick out this Marxist this November or else we as a nation are doomed.
you said you switched at FL, well Newt won more counties than RINO, your boy had not one county here in my state, not one in SC and not one in NH but hey you switched which is what FOX, the establishment and RINO wanted, well done, they got what they wanted.
“What is sad about this windmill tilting is, as I expressed yesterday, the admirable, tough fighter Mr. Gingrich is not even eligible yet to have his name placed in GOP nomination at the Tampa convention per Rule 40 (b) at this time.”
After Mittens fails to win the first vote anybody can be placed on the ballot if they have a plurality of five state delegates on the floor. Remember after the First ballot ALL delegates are released to vote for Whomever.
That is why at a brokered convention we could get a Jeb Bush or Chris Christie or even Sarah Palin.
>> [Gingrich] has enabled Romney to clinch the primary contest.
Rick’s inability to “clinch the primary” speaks to the weakness of his campaign. But you continue to blame Newt.
“Go Newt!”
Thanks Guenie! Proud of you too!!
Watching Faux news is hazardous to a Conservative’s health these days.
The vid. of this is hilarious. He wakes up(twice) and tries to smile and pretend that he hasn’t been fast asleep.
like when someone calls you and says, “Did I wake you?” and you lie and say “no”. or “I was just lying here. I’ve been up for a while now” No, you weren’t. You were fast asleep..like Newt!!
Considering how many Newters are so feverishly and severely against so-called “Saint Rick” I would suggest they would jump on the Mitt wagon.
So I’ve changed my opinion and I hope Newt stays in as for all I know he would drop out and endorse Romney!
