I’m not a fan of the “offended” category. In fact, one of the very few things I disagreed with Sarah Palin about in the last two years was her attack on the use of the word “retarded”.
I think we should figure out what people actually MEAN by what they say, and be offended by that, not by mere words.
Anyway, Michelle Obama was offended. I think that should make conservatives think twice about whether we should be offended.

I’ve never cared what DeNiro says, and now I don’t care what Ann Coulter says, either.

Why is De Niro interjecting race as an issue in this campaign? That is the question we should be (publicly) asking.
But I see Ann's point - if you want to find reasons to be perpetually offended, become a Democrat. They have much more practice at it!

I don’t think it was offensive. But I did see it as useful to try and make it offensive, so Liberals could draw away the attention from the contraceptive issue.

His premise was, he named 3 wives of political candidates, then immaturely implied- with no evidence, just soft slander- that not only are they unfit to be first ladies, but their entire race is unfit for it.
I think you have to have an agenda, or be dumb as a rock to not see this. Coulter can go to hell.

DiNero made a funny - an insightful and ambiguous funny. If Mrs. Great Leader wants to be all butt-hurt about it, that's her freaking problem. She's the one who needs to pull her boob belt out of the wringer, not DiNero.
I think America is absolutely ready for a white first lady - implication being Mr. & Mrs. Great Leader have worn out their welcome. This offense is proof of how far we've drifted. Perhaphs there needs to be an oversight council funded at the federal level whose job it is to pre-screen all verbalizations? In a way this might be a good thing. When the White House scares Hollywood we might see a lessening of the worship towards all things Obama coming from Hollywood.

Picture Jeff Foxworthy, in 2008, campaigning for John McCain and saying: "Is America ready for a black man in the White House? I don't think so!"
1) Foxworthy would never make such a "joke".
2) McCain (weak, spineless McCain) would have immediately disavowed the statement.
3) The media would have imploded with outrage.
DeNiro? "Is America ready for a white first lady?"
[shrug] He's just making a joke, right?
When we accept the double standard, we tell the world that we have no intention of fighting for what we believe in.

What is offensive is that it only matters who says it, if a liberal says it, then all is ok, if conservative says it, there is hell to pay, the conservative will be totally assaulted and marginalized (as per Alinsky rules).

What’s left of Ann to tell any ‘conservative’ how to think? It’s like...taking advice from Bill Maher on how to behave.

I read that her book sales are down. I wonder if Romney threw some cash her way.

It is really easy -
what if senior had said, the white house is not ready for 4 more years with a black man in it.

Ann doesn't get it. It's not about being truly offended, it's about winning the culture/media war. Newt out-Alinsky'ed the Alinskyites. Alinsky Rule No. 4 is "Make your enemy live up to their own rule book." Newt is doing that, and brilliantly. Ann sometimes misses the obvious.

She’s absolutely right. It was a joke, not offensive in any way, and it made me chuckle slightly.

This is one of the fundamental issues for our side (not the joke or Ann of course). The fact is, the left is probably not genuinely offended when they claim to be shocked by offensive language. In fact, most of the time it probably is twisted and misperceived and only goes to further cement their preconceived cliche notion.
Those on the right who try to point by point the left fail because the fact is, the left is full of crap. When the left is offended by someone calling a woman a slut it is not because they give two craps about women or that there is no such thing as a slut or anything else. They just want to shut someone [Limbaugh] up. They want to instill a kneejerk reaction on the part of tuned out women to simply associate republican with mysogyny (same thing with racism).
The deNiro quote isn't offensive. The underlying message of racial division is ugly and works against everything the left claims to be for. An intellectual discussion about the racism of leftist cliche may be warranted but anyone who says they are offended, is either really weird, or more likely lying.
This is another reason why Hannity will never be as popular as Rush because Sean tries to point-by-point the leftists and quite frankly it just gets shrill. Rush uses absurdity to illustrate the absurd which is more often than not, quite entertaining.

The problem is the double standard. Politically correct has come to mean and thing a conservative says is evil and the same type of comment from a liberal is just ignored.
