Anyway, point is, to buy today full set for treating wounds, does not cost too much, sterile gloves, compress, forceps, butterfly closures, antibiotic treatment, povidone, hydrogen peroxide, anti tetanus shots, sutures everything, it can be found for maybe 100$ here.
Is it worth 100$? Yes, it can worth 1000$ or 10000$ it can be priceless actually. When it comes to you or your family member it is priceless, if you helping someone else, you can say a price.

ALL bleeding stops ................ eventually.
I’d love to join your ping list, please. :)
Wow... I had no idea that one could buy tetanus shots! Almost wish I knew that last week when dear daughter needed stitches and the hospital was insistent on giving her the tdap shot, which she is highly highly allergic to. In the end, we had to refuse the shot and took her to the army base hospital where she’s usually seen, where they happily gave her the Td shot.
” Be nice to have something in the event I have to sew something up? “
Well, in the movies, an old belt, or even a stick of wood, placed between the patient’s teeth seems to do the trick...
;)
I can tell you what I have, and have used. I use an off brand of “Orajel.” (You can find it at the dollar store for far cheaper than even an off brand store). I believe its “active ingredient” is lidocane (could be benzocaine, the real Orajel is benzocaine). I have used it in first aid situations to treat a major cut, that got infected. (The person I was helping, had no money to see a doctor, and hadn’t properly cleaned and dressed the wound). She said she couldn’t feel her thumb after a few minutes (I only super glued the wound, not sutured). Anyway, hope that helps. It’ll depend on what level of pain you’re anticipating, and where, I suppose. But that may be a starting place for you.
Also, in some areas you can buy a topical anagesic in prophallactic section of stores. It’s used to prolong libido from what I understand. I have never owned, nor used it for any circumstances, but I do believe they offer a high concentration of lidocane or benzocaine from what I understand. Could be worth checking into.
Ah, good point, and thanks!
“Stuff” can be used alternatively. Just sayin’.
Thanks for the reference. Call me Doctor.
“Ammonia for insect bites...”
YES....it really works!!!!
“...like my wife makes toilet paper disappear.”
LMAO! She’ll be happy to hear this!
Down here we slather it on straight from the bottle. But spray bottles work good too .... LOL Oh, ps - use Listerine to fend off mossies ....use the yellow original not the menthol.
” Ammonia for insect bites “
Bleach works wonders on bee stings (assuming no critical allergic reaction), fish spines, and splinters (both wood and metal) — stops the festering, and somehow encourages the flesh to eject the offending object...
Much obliged. Lidocaine or bensocaine. I believe I’ll pick some up and at the dollar store as you suggest. I’m also going to get a sucher kit with that handy bent needle. I’m sure the family will love me for this. ; )
I will have to try the ammonia. I know for a fact that baking soda and water made into a paste does (probably same principle, both are strong bases).
Every year I get dozens/hundreds of mosquito bites (Sometimes dozens in a single day). Where I live it’s inevitable (highest number of mosquitos where I live, in the entire state), and last year it was so bad, I got sick from all the bites. The itching kept me from being able to sleep, even momentarilly. Finally I could bear it no longer (the hydrocortizone cream did a big fat nothing), and I broke down and did a folk remedy search. The baking soda did the trick. I still itched, but this time I could without scratching (I do have pretty good self control). But it wasn’t so bad I wanted to off myself (no pun intended). Mosquitos are one of the most vile things in all creation. I never thought that such pain and irritation could drive one out of their mind. I wanted to scream and cry, it was so bad. I have had some intense surgeries (including a surgical implant on an eyeball), that were painful, and dry socket in 3 teeth after wisdom tooth removal. Nothing compares to the mosquito evil. Nothing.
No it can’t, not effectively, the intended word, the actual word will always come first.
The new survivalists are promoting the new name of “shit” for us and for preparedness, it baffles me, but it sure isn’t conservative.
I also use it straight from the bottle. Deer/horse fly bites used to drive me crazy for days until I discovered ammonia. This STOPS all of that....not just the itching...but the soreness that can follow.
Mossies? Mosquitoes? I have used an old bottle of Avon Skin-so-soft for years...especially if I have to be walking where either ticks or chiggers can be picked up. It will flat out keep them away! For some reason....bugs just do NOT like it.
I’ve ordered bird antibiotics for one of my rescue foster dogs a few years ago. One of my vet friends told me that I could do this because it’d be cheaper than a script from my local vet.
All that stuff is on my old puter who is deader than a door nail ( didnt know door nails died btw lol ). Wished I coudl remember where I got it from .
I’ve also gone the baking soda route....ammonia is FAR better!
Listerine? I will have to try it. They love me. I can hardly go utside at times in the summer.
