Holly is my 7 year old yellow Labrador. She is the very best dog I've ever had. She's everything a lab should be and more.
She's also my two son's best friend. The 20 year old moved out recently and always teased he'd take her when he got his own place but I told him over my dead body. My 5 year old, well that is his buddy and the light of his life. He adores her beyond words.
When he had his first eye surgery when he was 6 months old, she laid on the floor with him and didnt move a muscle. The doc said he could resume normal activities a few hours after the surgery. And he squeeled when he crawled up on her and snuggled his face in her fur.
Even today he told her several times that he loved her and that she was the best dog.
Tonight I was sitting in the recliner and she jumped up and had her two front paws on my lap getting some ear scritches. She made a funny face and I noticed that her bottom gum is a dark grey in color, in the front. She used to chew and nibble things and she's worn her teethies down to the gum line ( all but her big gurl teeth ).
She's going to have to go to the vet and I have a great vet but it's the bill that I'm freaking out about. I know it's not going to be cheap to get her mouth fixed up and there are so many things that need replacing right this minute ( hot water heater, tires for 2 of our vehicles ) that I need a miracle for Holly.
So I swallow the lumps in my throat and try to keep up with the flow of tears streaming down my face, to ask you all to pray for a miracle for Holly.
I almost feel guilty in asking for prayers for her when so many need them worse but if you'd meet Holly, you'd love her in a blink of an eye.
She went back to her breeder for a litter of puppies ( Champions produced = show dogs ) and came back a year later and I couldnt keep up with the emails andphone calls telling me what a wonderful girl she is and that if she ever needed a home, they'd take her in a heart beat. I even had offers to buy her for a LOT of money but she's our family companion so of course I turned it flat down. Yup, that's my sweet gorgeous girl Holly.
I'll post a photo of her as soon as I can get it saved to my photo bucket.

Prayers up
BTTT.
Prayers up for “Big Gurl” Holly!
My yellow lab will be 5 on the 21st and he is the best dog I’ve ever had - loving, affectionate, loyal, good-hearted...I could go on and on. I know how you feel since my dog has a bad leg that can’t be fixed, but he doesn’t let that get him down. He’s just a treasure. Keep the faith that everything will work out.
THERE is sorrow enough in the natural way From men and women to fill our day; And when we are certain of sorrow in store, Why do we always arrange for more? Brothers and sisters, I bid you beware Of giving your heart to a dog to tear.

Prayers up.
Prayers up for you pup.....I understand your financial heartbreak......and I love labs, I think God created labs for children and their families !!!!
I will be pushing all my prayers for you and Holly toward Heaven as hard as I can!
Prayers for your boys leg. I’ve had so many breeds of dogs in my life and Labs are number 1 with me ( Goldens are a 2nd ) but I do love all dogs.
If you dont mind my asking, whats wrong with your boy’s leg ?
Give him a snuggle for me please.
I’m praying for you and your dear one.
Sending prayers your way! My yellow lab, Cody, will be 5 in May. He continues to have ear problems & surgery would be $800 but I have him on medication instead & it looks like its working. Maybe you can work something out with the vet.

Your prayers humble me and I know that FReepers can always be counted on to pray for whatever situation a fellow FReeper needs are.
Thank you all from the deepest part of my heart.
Prayers for Holly. God Loves Dogs too!
I recently lost my 2 year old Pug to epilepsy.
I pray that your sweet lab is healed and that the costs are lower than expected.
Prayers sent. We have a 7 yo yellow lab too. Contact Doris Day Foundation and search the net for other foundations that will assist you with the vet bills. Many pay up to 50% of total bills. Best of luck!
It may be nothing. If the bill is a few hundred, ask your vet to let you pay it in monthly installments.
I know what it’s like to have thousands of dollars in vet bills.
Good luck
Prayers for you and your doggie. I know what it’s like when worries start piling up like that. I guess everyone has those times. Ask your vet if he will work out a deal for you. Several years back, our cat Alfie kept getting a urinary blockage so they basically had to give him a female opening. The surgery can be expensive, but our vet did it for $300. If your vet can’t do what needs to be done at a discount, maybe on installments? Good luck.
Sorry about your Pug. Way back in the 80’s or 90’s, my friend’s boyfriend had a Pug. His name was Fu. He had seizures and either died from them or had to be put to sleep. It’s always sad to lose an animal.
