Who Wins The Iowa Caucuses?
The Right Elective Decisions ^ | 1/03/2012 | Chris Davis

We want to know what you think before the results are in. So who indeed wins the Iowa caucuses? Is it Ron Paul, Mitt Romney, Rick Santoru, Rick Perry, Michele Bachmann, John Huntsmann? We know those of you on Free Republic are clairvoyant and we want to know.

The media is going to have to admit that Romney's first name is NOT "Frontrunner" if he comes in third.

At least we have moved the goalposts- the media are all acknowledging that Romney is the establishment candidate the GOP is trying to cram down our throat. I wrote the GOP today and told them we didnt like Obamacare being forced on us much either.

About the best thing we can all hope for (and maybe agree on) out of Iowa is that it is bad for Romney if he comes in 3rd.

That would be about the biggest story today.

“Frontrunner” Romney would have to change his first name back to “Mitt”

It seems to me that NPR was constructing a fire break against that this morning, with two back-to-back stories:

First, they had (another) laudatory article about Romney. Their focus was on NH -- of course! Why would NPR do a story on any other state today?? NH is where it's at! Anyway ... NPR finds Romney to be popular figure in NH, commanding lead, really hitting it out of the park, because he's just so darn awesome.

Second story: Iowa is weird. No one cares. They never pick winners. Who will win the caucus? Who cares! It has no significance at all.

My takeaway from this morning's NPR coverage? Romney wasn't going to win Iowa, and they were doing damage control.

In my college town, 3 precincts meeting together:

Romney
Paul
Santorum/Gingrich (Santorum 1 point ahead of Gingrich)

When they announced Romney in the lead, a collective gasp rose up in the room. Yeah he got the lead, but there were a bunch of us who didn’t vote for him.

I think the winner of the Iowa Caucuses will be the candidate who gets the most votes.

Let me know the next time you need me to go out on a limb. :D

I can’t see Romney’s numbers going up. Rick will pick up the leftovers for the eventual win.

You know, now that I think about it, I may have been wrong. Santorum didn't get the most votes but it's hard to spin this as anything BUT a victory for him in terms of viability.

There’s no doubt that this is a Santorum victory. Period. And that’s a good thing.
