Newt Gingrich on Amnesty
Natural Born Conservative ^ | November 23, 2011 | Larry Walker, Jr.

Posted on 11/24/2011 5:37:51 AM PST by NaturalBornConservative

During the CNN GOP National Security Debate on 11/22/2011, Newt Gingrich recommended a comprehensive approach to address illegal immigration. Just for the record, what Mr. Gingrich really said about Amnesty may be viewed here.

Gingrich said that such a plan must (A) start with securing the border, then (B) establishing a guest worker program, and finally (C) setting up a board to review the status of each person here illegally. Such a board would distinguish between those who recently came here, and those who are more established. He said that those who recently came here, who don't have family ties, or are otherwise not established, should be sent home. While those who are established, who have been here for 25 years or more, who have children and grandchildren in America, who belong to churches, who have obeyed the laws, and who have paid their taxes, should be allowed to stay legally, but not automatically granted citizenship. For the latter, he recommended using something similar to the Red Card Solution, which would be used as a form of identification, to grant legality, and place them on a path towards citizenship.

The Krieble Foundation's Red Card Solution is a proposal which would allow companies to recruit workers from Mexico. The Red Card would permit workers to enter America, and would allow employers and immigration authorities to track them. It would aid in enforcement of immigration laws, with less intrusion by the government. According to the Krieble Foundation:

"It’s a simple solution. Private employment agencies would be allowed to open offices in foreign countries, and authorized to issue temporary non-citizen worker permits. The permits would be “smart cards” with a microchip that includes a photograph, fingerprint or other biometric identification data, and information needed so that border agents, police, and employers could swipe the card and know who the holder is, where he works, where he lives, who issued the permit, when it expires, and any other required information. Employment agencies would be licensed by the government and would be required to run criminal background checks before issuing non-citizen worker permits, much like gun shops do today. Employers would simply post jobs with employment agencies like they do today. Best of all, the program would be funded by user fees, not taxpayers."

Gingrich also recommended that H1 Visas be granted with every graduate degree in math, science and engineering, to encourage foreign students to stay in America.

For the most part, I concur.

Yeah, what ever. You are clearly so over wrought and angry, so filled with hatred of Newt that nothing anyone says and no amount of factual information will change that. So bye! Enjoy your indignation and outrage . . . it’s a bitter pill for such a wonderful day.

Amen, self-deportation is the only way. Make it so hostile to be here illegally that you haul your own illegal butt out of here, and don`t come back either.

Wasting your time with dirtboy and others. They’re more “purist” on illegals than any other aspects of their lives/belief systems. I noted the other day that The Gipper had made an amnesty deal with the Dims so even he couldn’t be a satisfactory candidate today.

This truly is a sorry spectacle.

We just were treated to Newt, after having received millions from Beltway interests, claiming that he has never lobbied in return for any of that money.

Despite claims to the contrary as documented in an article in the Washington Examiner - and at least one of the claims had a name attached to it.

So Newt is demanding that I discard any sense of reasoned skepticism about his claim.

Now Newt and this outfit are saying all this depends upon securing the border first. And I am castigated as dishonest despite the fact, as you noted, that McCain played the exact same gambit and hasn't done squat to help the process of actually securing the border. Even McCain is better than Newt on border security, Newt opposes a border fence.

So who is really being dishonest here? It's you, Sudentenland. For demanding that I discard what I have learned about Beltway RINOs and their push for amnesty. Only the most depraved shill calls someone dishonest for evaluating the claims of a politician through the filter of the past.

However you turn it, it means bringing enough new socialist Democrats into the system to make the Social Democrat Party the Ơne Party in a thenceforth one party state. I cannot understand why any Republicans, RINO or Tea Party want to do that. Do they think they can just change their registration and become Democrats in the new system? Why are they Republicans in the first place?

When a politician talks about those three steps, the only one he will be serious about is the last one, and that one, if it comes to that, will be done in sports stadiums fifty thousand at a time, not one at a time after careful consideration. Clinton got lots of new Democrat voters that way, mostly legals but not all.

Purist? You're full of sh**. I believe we don't need more foreign workers in this age of chronic unemployment. I question the notion that those who have been here the longest illegally are not lawbreakers. And for that, you call me a purist?

I noted the other day that The Gipper had made an amnesty deal with the Dims so even he couldn’t be a satisfactory candidate today.

The Gipper learned from his mistakes. You are demanding that repeat one of Reagan's. Hardly a conservative trait.

so filled with hatred of Newt

Hatred of Newt? Is that the best you can do, you pathetic lying troll?

I suppose you think I hate Obama, instead of disagreeing with his policies. That is exactly who you are emulating with your hate rhetoric, the liberal talking heads on MSNBC. Nice company you keep.

>>...Congress will never pass an expulsion law...<<

Ok, then follow Alabama’s lead and the illegal immigrants will leave of their own volition to a friendlier environment. It’s reasonable, prudent and it’s working *right now*.

Newt’s not my first choice and I don’t see that changing. However, if it comes down to him or Obama, I’ll vote for him and most everyone I know among friends and family feels the same way.

So chin up! He can count on the “if all else fails” vote!

We will never “secure” the border. So what is the definition of a secure border? Janet says it's secure now.

So let the amnesty begin.

The only way to stop illegal immigration is to make it extremely difficult to stay here - ENFORCEMENT and DEPORTATION. But no one wants to try that first.

They want to pretend that the border is “secure” and then grant amnesty. To me, if you get to stay without fear of deportation, that is amnesty.

The only amnesty I can accept is that you go back to your own country, get in line like everyone else, and then when your name comes up in the queue your case is reviewed. Having already been in the country illegally will count against you. If you had committed crimes and especially if you voted illegally while here you are up $*&t creek - no admission, ever.

Yeah, but don't let that sway your opinion of the veracity of the Krieble Foundation and Newt when they say border security first. Don't let McCain's non-action on border security sway you either. You see, Newt and the Krieble Foundation really, really mean it. Cross their hearts and hope to die, stick a needle in their eye.

What’s wrong with following the laws already on the books, period? Other than securing the border, the rest of Newt’s plan would be rife with corruption. Can you imagine the profit to be made from becoming a “new-found” relative to an illegal? Also, if they’re here illegally, how can they be paying taxes?

There's nothing wrong with following the laws already on the books, they just haven't been enforced for the last 60-70 years. I believe that if someone just got here, in the past 10-24 years, or whatever the cut-off is, they're going home, but the border must be secured first. Millions of illegals are working here and paying taxes - that's a fact. You can't work without paying taxes. Working under someone else's SSN, or without proper authorization is a problem. But again, blaming someone who's been here for 25 years, or so, illegally, for the government's failure to secure our borders, and to enforce the law is to blame the wrong party.

If you inadvertently forgot to report some income on your tax return 4 years ago, and the IRS didn't catch it, should you be forced to pay it now? Well, unless it was more than $25,000, then the statute of limitations has expired, and the IRS can't assess additional taxes, nor could you amend your tax return after the statute has expired.

If you owe back taxes, and it's been more than 10 years since the tax was assessed, should you be forced to pay it? Nope. You are under no obligation, because the Statute of Limitations on collections is 10 years. Thus, the IRS must write-off the balance.

So what is the Statute of Limitations on entering the country illegally? There is none. Should there be? Perhaps in some circumstances, on a limited basis (i.e. haven't broken other laws, have paid taxes, have been here for 25 years or more, have children and grandchildren who are citizens, are contributing to society), but there should not be blanket amnesty. I don't know what you heard, but that's what I heard.

Or do you think some hack who has lived at the public teat his entire life ...
I think Perry fits that description. Worked briefly on the family farm and been in office since 1985.
So the two choices you're trying to decide on have zero public office experience or all public office experience.
Since you don't like "lifers," I guess that makes you a Cain guy. He's not a bad man, but he's not worthy of the top spot in the WH ... yet.

That is a factor between Perry and Cain.

I just don't see what is gained by comparing the experience of a lifelong legislator to someone who has actually run an organization. Perry actually has been chief executive at the state level and understands the 10th. I honestly think Newt has been in the Beltway so long that he has lost the notion of governmental constraint.

What makes them qualified is some having some degree of knowledge of the issues--something Cain sorely lacks--and some degree or history of achievement in operating in a government bureaucracy. Cain's only experience is in the board room where the CEO's decisions are dictatorial. He has shown repeatedly that he has no comprehension as to how getting legislation passed actually happens. He seems to believe that all he has to do is say "This is what I want," and it will magically occur.

Newt has actually achieved what everyone on the right wants to happen. He has actually presided over and led a Congress to cut spending, drastically reform entitlement programs, and balance the budget. No other candidate has come close but Perry who has done much the same in Texas.

Bingo

This is from your own website, as indicated on your FR profile page:

Every time a conservative criticizes President Obama, the first response from liberals and Black Leaders is an accusation of "racism."

Yet you engaged in basically the exact same tactic here - you called me a Newt 'hater'.

You're just a rank hypocrite, engaging in the exact same tactics you decry in others.

People want an experienced RINO politician when these so-called qualified people are the same clowns who got us all in the position we’re in in the first place!

So what exactly is Cain's plan for handling illegal immigrants who have been here for any period of time? Clarity, Clarity, Clarity? 9-9-9? Kick down doors and deport them? Deport the parents but leave their legal-citizen children here? Deport the illegal wife, but leave the legal husband? Deport the illegal grandparents, but leave the rest of the family? Racially profile and question anyone who looks Hispanic, or Muslim? Cain has no plan, so there's nothing there to judge him by, other than his own misguided rhetoric.
