Glenn Beck: NYT runs one of the most “bigoted” “anti-religon” articles EVER
glennbeck.com ^ | Oct 20, 2011 | Glenn Beck

Posted on 10/23/2011 4:28:28 PM PDT by Ripliancum

“If this was written about Jews she’d be fired today. If it was written about Catholics she’d be in trouble today. Because it’s written about the Mormons it can be said,” Glenn said.

I want you to know I am a Mormon. I’m a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, and you may not like my theology. That’s okay,” Glenn said.

“I’m not asking you to join my church. I’m not asking you to join theologies or anything like that. It’s important that we keep our theologies separate and distinct. It’s important that you know what you believe in, and I know what I believe in. And we need to stand arm in arm.”

“Look, the wolves are coming for people of faith and they are coming for the weakest among and they will take down the ones that are weakest that have the least amount of protection it will be the Mormons, and Jews, and then who’s next. It will be all of us.”

If people don’t want to vote for Romney then don’t! Just don’t make a big religious issue out of it. We need to put our attention and energy into other things. Debating Mormon doctrine is not one of them.

(Said Morgana, adding her debateable points to the debate)

I’m not a Mormon, and I’ll bet you wouldn’t have the guts to tell me to “shut the hell up” to my face, would you, nutjob? Actually, I wish you could summon up that much courage, so I could knock some of your sick bigotry out of you.

I notice that you conveniently ignored svcw’s challenge.... I guess you could find no concrete evidence of Mormon-hating here on FR then to back up your initial statement? When cornered, attack, is that it? Disagreement is not hate! Having been a FReeper for as long as you have, and being, I would hope, a conservative, that should be a concept you understand.

The LDS believe that a remnant of the Tribe of Joseph (one of the 12) broke off and came over to the Americas.

Yet none of the native Americans have any genetic links to Semitics

Yet none of the Native Americans have a language that is even remotely related or linked to any Semitic language

Yet there is no word history of Semites in the Americas

Yet there is zero, absolutely zero archaeological evidence for the great Semitic cities that are mentioned in the Book of Moron

Yet there is no archaeological proof for Old World technology in pre-Columbus America

Bottom-line, the book of Mormon is a bad piece of fiction and Mormonism is like an older version of Scientology, only with things proven false like the Book of Abraham (actually the Egyptian book of the dead honoring the god Anubis) and "Reformed eGyptian" (a fake language and one that is illogical for a Semitic speaking people who had left Egypt centuries before this supposed journey to the Americas to revert to)

After all, this is a conservative site, right? Can Mormons, Jews, Catholics, Evangelicals, etc. not all be conservatives?

Yup; and one of the MOST important things, to a Conservative; is RELIGION!

If ANYONE wants to 'attack' mine; go right ahead!

It's Christian, Evangelical, Methodist background, WESLEYAN specifically.

We have OPEN Communion and do not consider ourselves to be the only holder of the Keys to Heaven.

I'll try REAL hard not to whine, cry, call you a bigot or hater for pointing out flaws that you have found in it's foundation.

How about we start acting like it?

Matthew 15:16
"Are you still so dull?" Jesus asked them.

Matthew 23

  1.  Then Jesus said to the crowds and to his disciples:
  2.  "The teachers of the law and the Pharisees sit in Moses' seat.
  3.  So you must obey them and do everything they tell you. But do not do what they do, for they do not practice what they preach.
  4.  They tie up heavy loads and put them on men's shoulders, but they themselves are not willing to lift a finger to move them.
  5.  "Everything they do is done for men to see: They make their phylacteries  wide and the tassels on their garments long;
  6.  they love the place of honor at banquets and the most important seats in the synagogues;
  7.  they love to be greeted in the marketplaces and to have men call them `Rabbi.'
  8.  "But you are not to be called `Rabbi,' for you have only one Master and you are all brothers.
  9.  And do not call anyone on earth `father,' for you have one Father, and he is in heaven.
 10.  Nor are you to be called `teacher,' for you have one Teacher, the Christ.
 11.  The greatest among you will be your servant.
 12.  For whoever exalts himself will be humbled, and whoever humbles himself will be exalted.
 13.  "Woe to you, teachers of the law and Pharisees, you hypocrites! You shut the kingdom of heaven in men's faces. You yourselves do not enter, nor will you let those enter who are trying to.
 14.  Woe unto you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! for ye devour widows' houses, and for a pretence make long prayer: therefore ye shall receive the greater damnation.
 15.   "Woe to you, teachers of the law and Pharisees, you hypocrites! You travel over land and sea to win a single convert, and when he becomes one, you make him twice as much a son of hell as you are.
 16.  "Woe to you, blind guides! You say, `If anyone swears by the temple, it means nothing; but if anyone swears by the gold of the temple, he is bound by his oath.'
 17.  You blind fools! Which is greater: the gold, or the temple that makes the gold sacred?
 18.  You also say, `If anyone swears by the altar, it means nothing; but if anyone swears by the gift on it, he is bound by his oath.'
 19.  You blind men! Which is greater: the gift, or the altar that makes the gift sacred?
 20.  Therefore, he who swears by the altar swears by it and by everything on it.
 21.  And he who swears by the temple swears by it and by the one who dwells in it.
 22.  And he who swears by heaven swears by God's throne and by the one who sits on it.
 23.  "Woe to you, teachers of the law and Pharisees, you hypocrites! You give a tenth of your spices--mint, dill and cummin. But you have neglected the more important matters of the law--justice, mercy and faithfulness. You should have practiced the latter, without neglecting the former.
 24.  You blind guides! You strain out a gnat but swallow a camel.
 25.  "Woe to you, teachers of the law and Pharisees, you hypocrites! You clean the outside of the cup and dish, but inside they are full of greed and self-indulgence.
 26.  Blind Pharisee! First clean the inside of the cup and dish, and then the outside also will be clean.
 27.  "Woe to you, teachers of the law and Pharisees, you hypocrites!  You are like whitewashed tombs, which look beautiful on the outside but on the inside are full of dead men's bones and everything unclean.
 28.  In the same way, on the outside you appear to people as righteous but on the inside you are full of hypocrisy and wickedness.
 29.  "Woe to you, teachers of the law and Pharisees, you hypocrites! You build tombs for the prophets and decorate the graves of the righteous.
 30.  And you say, `If we had lived in the days of our forefathers, we would not have taken part with them in shedding the blood of the prophets.'
 31.  So you testify against yourselves that you are the descendants of those who murdered the prophets.
 32.  Fill up, then, the measure of the sin of your forefathers!
 33.  "You snakes! You brood of vipers! How will you escape being condemned to hell?
 34.  Therefore I am sending you prophets and wise men and teachers. Some of them you will kill and crucify; others you will flog in your synagogues and pursue from town to town.
 35.  And so upon you will come all the righteous blood that has been shed on earth, from the blood of righteous Abel to the blood of Zechariah son of Berekiah, whom you murdered between the temple and the altar.
 36.  I tell you the truth, all this will come upon this generation.
 37.  "O Jerusalem, Jerusalem, you who kill the prophets and stone those sent to you, how often I have longed to gather your children together, as a hen gathers her chicks under her wings, but you were not willing.
 38.  Look, your house is left to you desolate.
 39.  For I tell you, you will not see me again until you say, `Blessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord.' "

Mark 7:26-27
 26.  The woman was a Greek, born in Syrian Phoenicia. She begged Jesus to drive the demon out of her daughter.
 27.  "First let the children eat all they want," he told her, "for it is not right to take the children's bread and toss it to their dogs."

And St. Paul chimes in...

Galatians 5:12
As for those agitators, I wish they would go the whole way and emasculate themselves!

Chew on that a little bit.

Nothing to chew on; as I agree with you.

Binger is just as 'religious' as I or you are, even though he does not 'conform' to what some would 'require' a religious person to appear to be; by regularly attending 'services' in a building somewhere, with supposedly likeminded people.

Can Mormons, Jews, Catholics, Evangelicals, etc. not all be conservatives?

you can add atheists and agnostics to that list. Yes, one can be conservative distinct from one's religious/philosophical beliefs.

Tell me where you live, and I sure would.
If you don’t know mormonISM you should not be commenting on it.
Don’t defend something you know nothing about.
Oh yea, back up your claims or shut the hell up.

Mr. Beck, from you comments, I understand that you're against religious bigotry, and that if those comments had been made about Jews or Catholics, she would be in trouble.

Here is a screenshot taken this morning from the official website of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. You'll find it under the Menu item, Scriptures, Pearl of Great Price.

Wait?

All religions except the Mormons are "wrong," and their creeds are an "abomination" in the eye of God, and their rabbis, ministers, and other teachers are all "corrupt"?

Those Jews and Catholics you were worried about, plus the Methodists, and Baptists, and Hindus, and Buddhists, and Society of Friends, and Muslims, and Mennonites, and that entire list of branches of the LDS church that Else published?

Are you going to write a scolding letter to the First Presidency of the Corporation of the President of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints for publishing those "wrong, abomination, corrupt" comments about Jews and Catholics (and everyone else) on its official website?

Mr. Beck. I defend your right to your religious beliefs. Crying "victim" in this case smells like hypocrisy to me.

Here is a screenshot taken this morning from the official website of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. You'll find it under the Menu item, Scriptures, Pearl of Great Price.

/ SCRIPTURES / PEARL OF GREAT PRICE / JOSEPH SMITH-HISTORY

19 I was answered that I must join none of them, for they were all awrong; and the Personage who addressed me said that all their creeds were an abomination in his sight; that those bprofessors were all ccorrupt; that: “they ddraw near to me with their lips, but their ehearts are far from me, they teach for doctrines the fcommandments of men, having a form of godliness, but they deny the gpower thereof.”

Wait?
All religions except the Mormons are "wrong," and their creeds are an "abomination" in the eye of God, and their rabbis, ministers, and other teachers are all "corrupt"?

ALL: If you want to see the utter 2-faced hypocrisy of Mormon poster Saundra Duffy, compare Scoutmaster's post to hers in #8. She said there: This is priceless. The Freeper anti Mormons in bed with the likes of Maureen Dowd, Chris Hitchens, and Bill Maher. Just priceless.

Dowd, Hitchens and Maher have taken aim and taken all kinds of pot shots at Christianity. Maher, a former Catholic, has been ruthless on Catholics.

Per Saundra Duffy's logic then, since the very foundational vision of Mormons
-- cited by Scoutmaster above --
-- is endlessly regurgitated by Mormon writers, Mormon curricula writers, Mormon speakers, Mormon general authorities, Mormon missionaries, and Mormon grassroots...
...and it's translated into hundreds of languages with the financial wallet and purses of the likes of Saundra Duffy and Ripliancum...
...then that means these translations & regurgitations result in Saundra and Ripliancum being "in bed" with Dowd, Hitchens & Maher!

All of them heavily critique Christianity -- Mormonism to the point of calling us Christians apostates, "corrupt" professors who embrace 100% abominable creeds.

Priceless hypocrisy, Saundra! (Saundra doesn't seem to realize her own critique condemns all Mormons if that's the "standard" we are to go by!)

Colofornian: This is soooo perfect. You are in complete agreement with the likes of Bill Maher, Christopher Hitchens and liberal “journalists” everywhere.

If I wanted to - which I don’t - I could dig up a lot of negative out-of-context stuff about Catholicism. But why? I have no axe to grind against Catholics.

I am perplexed as to why you continue to post over and over and over and over the same old anti Mormon stuff. Don’t you have anything better to do?

Now that I think of it, there is an industry in place whose only purpose is to attempt to tear down and discredit The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. Big business. Raking it in hand over fist.
