Perry's opponents have unfairly painted the governor as relaxed on border security, and all too willing to give illegal immigrants a free ride. Presidential politics can be harsh sometimes, and some candidates are all too quick to foster erroneous lies about other candidates in the hope to plant seeds of doubt about how serious Perry is about border security.
The ide Perry is soft on border security is just wrong.
Ramshaw reports In 2005, Perry announced a $10 million state program to boost border patrols and upgrade radio systems along the border, installed hundreds of video cameras, and requested 1,000 National Guard troops along the Texas-Mexico border, but only received 250. In 2009 he supported a since-passed legislation requiring Texans to show a photo identification to vote, and worked to outlaw sanctuary cities.

Six Months Ago, the Cain Train was Awaiting on that Quitter Palin. They've been used and abused. No wonder their judgement is in question (-;
P.S. I sympathize with all you neo-Cain Trainers. Not having a candidate to like was the horrible experience I was having before my brother Rick Perry said he'd run
When someone sees a decorative fence and compares it to a border fence to make a cheap political point, it shows not only ignorance but their
bigotry against Texas and Gov Perry. And when you assume from my name whatever you want to ASSUME, then you also show your ignorance.
My posting name is a name my husband and I have used since we got married 48 years ago and it is a portion of our last name and we are a team. I don’t assume anything from your posted name but what you posted tells me volumes.
Fact is, Perry is FINISHED in the GOP race,
Probably so but that don’t change the fact that an out of stater can get residency in one year and get the instate tuition rate. What you got against states rights? It’s the Feds job to keep out the illegals.
Hispanics may be citizens. You should find a new word.
Being originally from TN, how could I be a bigot against Texas since it’s the biggest county in my home state? You couldn’t swing a dead hippie around in the Hill Country and not hit five of my cousins! Furthermore, I live in a part of Georgia that has armadillos, prickly pears and alligators.
Yes, I assumed too much from your screen name, and I APOLOGIZE FOR THAT! The overcriminalization of our society and the militarization of our police is a really sore spot with me, and for that I will issue no apologies to anyone.
As for my screen name, noprogs is NO PROGRESSIVES all run together and chopped off. I hope you can agree with that sentiment.
Concerning Mr. Perry, I’m sure he seems like Paladin after having Richards, and he has done some good things I really like, but there are problems with him I won’t go into here. I could vote for him in the general, and won’t have to hold my nose any harder than I did to vote for W the second time. But it’s primary season, and right now I’m in the bag for Cain unless he really screws up.
Again I apologize for my assumption. Let’s drop the cow chips. Any of the seven would beat what we have now.
Which is why there are millions of illegal aliens is Texas.
Tell me. Is that guy in the sombrero actually Dustin Hoffman?
“Which is why there are millions of illegal aliens is Texas.”
That’s illogical.
It’s not our job, but we pay for it , anyway.
Gov Rick’s lookin the other way. Illegals using fake document register to vote for Rick several times each, and suckup state and federal tax dollars by riding the US gravy train using multiple identities.
Keep in mind-—”impoverished” latinos pay several thousand dollars to establish multiple identities with forged documents.
Two Texas brothers travel across the US setting up offices in hotels, to manufacture faked and forged documents that can pass any test-—drivers’ licenses, passports, SS cards, birth certificates, etc etc etc........the brothers have contacts with document brokers who buy the fakes and resell them on the street.
At one point, the US Passport Office would not take documents from one state’s offce-—run by a latino-—b/c they were mostly faked.
Jose Madrigal, the Washington state rapist, had some 30 identities. Another illegal collected $3.5 million in UI checks using false identities.
Illegal Manuel Mejia Ordonez ordered to repay $3M in Calif employment fraud

A former Marysville resident has been sentenced to prison and ordered to pay back $3 million in fraudulently obtained unemployment compensation. US Attorney Benjamin B. Wagner said 31-year-old Manuel Mejia Ordonez was sentenced to eight years and one month in prison for conspiracy to commit mail fraud and identity theft. (Excerpt) Read more at sfgate.com ...
An impoverished citizen of Mexico (and others from the Third World just here for a “better life”) steals $3 million in unemployment claims. But that does not include all the freebies collected with multiple identities.
IRS figures show illegals use falsified documents to collect some $20 billion in EITC refunds......and on and on and on.
Same as most people’s families. It’s not race hate but hate of how so many are taking advantage of our good nature. Come here legally and I have no problem but sneak over here or overstay your visa and make demands on me then I’m not so hospitable no matter if you’re brown, green or purple.
Perry ... requested 1,000 National Guard troops along the Texas-Mexico border, but only received 250.NEWS FLASH!
The Governor of a state is in charge of his state's National Guard. Not the POTUS, not the DoD, not the Army, NO ONE but him, or her. The exception is IF said state's NG Force has been nationalized by the POTUS, with the okay of the governor(1) - then they are under control of the US Army and POTUS as the CIC.
So every time I see that canard about Perry "requesting" NG troops I stop right there as its complete and utter BS. In English A LIE. So if Perry wanted 1,000 or 5,000 'Boots' all he had to do was call them up for Active Duty(2). It's that simple.
(1) This was the problem Dubya had in LA and Katrina. That asshat governor would not allow Bush to Nationalize the LA National Guard when he requested - and requested, and requested. Until it was too late and everything was FUBAR.
(2)Texas National Guard
The Governor may call individuals or units of the Texas National Guard into state service during emergencies or to assist in special situations which lend themselves to use of the National Guard. The state mission assigned to the National Guard is: "To provide trained and disciplined forces for domestic emergencies or as otherwise provided by state law."
Exactly. If I invite you into my home, I’ll treat you as an honored guest.
If you break into my house and squat in my living room, I’ll use violence if I have to to make you go away.
I accept your apology. The post you replied to was in answer to icwhatudo in post 4. It upsets me when someone misrepresents a picture or what someone says.
I can understand the reaction to my screen name but the problem is that people, including me, often react without fully knowing the whole story.
The screen name that I am using has been in existence since before any SWAT team was thought about. At least I don’t believe they
were in existence as such during the 60’s. I have been cussed out over the name before and one time so bad that I quit posting for
about a year.
But I refuse to change it. Just like I refuse to stand by and not stand up for my state and my Gov when I feel like they were disparaged.
I have not completely made up my mind about the primaries. I only know who I will not vote for. I have voted for Gov Perry every time he has run.
Had I been living in Georgia when Herman Cain was running for the Senate I would have been behind him 100%.
Voting for a President is an entirely different thing. I’m still listening and watching. The options are getting smaller every day.
Another of Perry's damnable lies...... b/c a Governor controls his state's National Guard. Period. One exception is if the prez nationalized the state NG WITH the consent of the Governor.
Prehistoric Perry and his clueless handlers have a huge problem---they have no idea WRT to the speed and accuracy info gets on the web.
Every word Perry says can be scrutinized and researched.......trouble is everything Perry says comes up short.
You lie. If you were able to understand what you copied and pasted, you would notice that your lie about the voters is the only tie to Texas. Although I sincerely doubt. The truth of the rest of your post, you only have other states documented.
These are all the fed’s responsibility. Not. A single one of your points has anything to do with the failure of Texas Law Enforcement Officers.
Border control is the responsibility of the Federal government. Why should Texas pay for those Guards in addition to the $400 million we’ve paid for? We put nearly 600 TNG in the airports after 9-11, BTW. We deploy our own Rangers, our DPS agents, we have a State. Office of Homeland Security, we deploy our helicopters.
The. Nation should pay for National security. Our Gover
Couldn’t handle the discussion all by yourself?
What is illogical is the belief that people who live in perpetual violate of US Federal law are going to magically be truthful on an affidavit claiming 3 years of residency that is given to them by a slimey liberal college administrator.
That would include the high school diploma and a 3 year transcript from a Texas high school.
Governor Perry’s goal would be to keep them from qualifying in the first place by stopping the parents at the border and making it even more difficult to stay for 3 years. We’ve spent $400 million a year on border security since 2005, increased the annual funding for the next two years and made sure that illegal aliens can’t get a driver’s license.
