The Truth and Lies About Perry 's Immigration Views
Technocrati ^ | Oct 16, 2011 | Timothy Bladel

Perry's opponents have unfairly painted the governor as relaxed on border security, and all too willing to give illegal immigrants a free ride. Presidential politics can be harsh sometimes, and some candidates are all too quick to foster erroneous lies about other candidates in the hope to plant seeds of doubt about how serious Perry is about border security.

The ide Perry is soft on border security is just wrong.

Ramshaw reports In 2005, Perry announced a $10 million state program to boost border patrols and upgrade radio systems along the border, installed hundreds of video cameras, and requested 1,000 National Guard troops along the Texas-Mexico border, but only received 250. In 2009 he supported a since-passed legislation requiring Texans to show a photo identification to vote, and worked to outlaw sanctuary cities.

The truth is illegal aliens GET IN-STATE tuition rates, regardless of the spin in the article (weasel wording that they are treated no better than other state residents, but in reality, they are treated better than US citizens from other states!)

A photo of Perry in front of the Governors Mansion after the fire. Wired...looks like fencing to keep people out. Why didn't they just use radios and cameras?

Perry recognized and legitimized La Raza by speaking to them. He should be treated the same as if he spoke at an Aryan Nations gathering.

Baloney!

Three years residency gets one in state tuition.

The other candidates were lying hypocrites for ripping Perry and Texas on this. The biggest BSer was/is RINO Romney

You are correct. They are being treated the same as US citizens from another state. The issue is whether they should be.

Most all states have in-state tuition rates for people that reside in that state - in addition - many states (Texas included) have allowances for people that live in neighboring states that are close to the border to receive those in-state rates as well.

Texas is not the only state to have conditions that allow certain illegals to qualify for in-state tuition. This is a state’s issue.

Certainly Perry has his flaws - so do all of the other candidates. Name one that doesn’t.

I live in Texas.

Every year that my kids went to school (most of high school) I had to fill out a form.

That form was where I was supposed to indicate whether or not we were ‘migrant farm workers’. I asked an official what that form was for. He explained to me that it was so that they could know if we were illegal immigrants.

If we were, the school would get more money for my children from the state AND my children would get free breakfast and lunch.

If we didn’t fill out the form in time, my children wouldn’t be allowed to stay in school. It was imperative that they got their answer so they could GET MORE MONEY FROM THE STATE.

Claritity, I don’t know if you realize this, but we (in Texas) pay a very high amount for our property taxes. More than half of our taxes go to the schools. That amount is jacked up because we are funding ILLEGAL IMMIGRANTS.

“Baloney!

Three years residency gets one in state tuition.”

that’s three years of their children getting a free education at our schools.

Three years of their children getting free breakfasts and lunches at our schools. (Did you know that we, in Texas, filled out a form every year to let the school know if we were eligible for this?)

Three years of their children getting free medical care at our ER’s. (You do know that taxpayers have to pay for that, right?)

So, after sucking off our economy for three years, we REWARD them by giving benefits to ADULT (no longer children) illegals that OUR OWN CITIZENS don’t get.

All public schools in every state have to educate illegals not just your state so says the supreme court.

And have these US Citizens from other states been paying Texas state sales tax for years as have ALL residents of Texas?

They pay the tax. I don't like it, but out of staters don't pay the tax. All State colleges are funded by sales tax.

You do understand the Federal Government mandates illegals receive free K-12 education as well as free ER care. It’s not Rick Perry.

Are you really that naive to believe that people that have no respect for US law are going to suddenly start abiding by a bullshit residency requirement?
