P&G is, by far, the biggest sponsor of the Oprah Winfrey Network, having signed a 3-year contract for $100M. These are some of P&G's biggest brands, most with sales of over $1 billion per year. Not all of these brands are advertised on Oprah, but we can boycott all of them, which gives us more leverage. Go to the link at the bottom of the page for more info on Oprah's sponsors. Swiffer, Tide, CoverGirl and Pantene are most advertised on OWN. You can contact P&G at this link and let them know that you are boycotting them:
P&G is also a sponsor of Chris Mathew's Hardball on MSNBC, by the way. So, you can kill two birds with one stone.

Why do we want to boycott the network? Looks like it will expire all by itself.
Uhhhh, is this for the magazine or her lame network, cuz the Oprah doesn’t have a show on the tube anymore. Just reruns.
Would be kind of dumb to assume that, wouldn’t it? Oprah has 3 billion dollars and is determined to make it a success. You have to drive a stake though it’s heart.
She has her own network, OWN, and she will have a new show on that network in October.
I know that and am just glad I don’t get that channel. But the article posted sounded dated to me that’s why I axed.
Sorry, but I cannot boycott someone or even a company just because I disagree with them politically. It just does not seem right.
I agree.
Some not on the list that P&G now owns : Natura Pet Foods Innova Evo, California Natural. I used to use Evo, stopped when they bought it because they caned food were had grit in them and were upsetting my dog’s stomachs. They don’t have to report ingredient changes in pet foods immediately. I can’t recall how long they have to do it, but I think it was a year or two.
It’s not just because of her private political views, but as a protest of Hollywood entertainers using their celebrity status to influence the public. If they can use their status as a celebrity to back an anti-American president, we can and should change our consumer habits to oppose them doing that. I’m not sure what does not seem “right” about that. It’s just another form of political expression, the American colonists used boycotts before the American Revolution for the same purposes. A big problem these days is that the conservatives are too caught up in self-doubt and political correctness to fight back with all the tools that they have.
It just seems like the timing of her network and the 2012 elections are suspect. I bet her channel/influence with the black community will come into play in 2012 big time IMHO.
My mother-in-law is an ostensible conservative, but "just looooves Oprah". She is also an ostensible Christian, but watches every New Age guru that Oprah inflicts upon America.
How do we open the eyes of self-deluded pop culture addicts to the evils of Oprah the Orca?
Boycotts don’t work. It just brings attention to the individual or company. Plus Crest is the best toothpaste out there.
Doc, you may not be able to open their eyes, but those of use with open eyes can fight back. Showing public opposition to these people is probably the best way to open their eyes, in any case, if it is possible at all.
>Boycotts dont work. It just brings attention to the individual or company. Plus Crest is the best toothpaste out there.<
There has been a not very focused or organized boycott against Oprah for nearly three years already and it has nevertheless worked swimmingly. Oprah’s popularity has plummeted and her media enterprises (magazine, website and network) are on the verge of extinction. This is just an effort to help the numerous boycotters focus a little better on the sponsors and help drive a stake though her heart, so to speak, push her over the edge or whatever metaphor you would like to use.
