Seventeen (17) things that critics are saying about Rick Perry
Pesky Truth ^ | August 16th, 2011 | Garnet

Posted on 08/17/2011 6:25:03 AM PDT by shield

Over the past couple of months Rick Perry has been considering a run for POTUS. As of Saturday, August 13, he’s in with both feet.

Since he’s been Governor of Texas for over ten years, folks from the other “56 states” are asking Texans what kind of governor he’s been and what we think. I decided that what I “think” isn’t good enough – I could be wrong. So, I decided to do some research on Perry’s record and form a more accurate, fact-based opinion on his qualifications instead of relying on my general perceptions.

In the spirit of full disclosure, I voted for Perry in each of the three gubernatorial elections since 2002 and I am a conservative and a registered Republican. It was easy for me to vote for Perry since the alternative(s) were either uber-RINOs in the primaries or liberal Democrats in the general elections. Under the circumstances, my choice was always easy.

While researching Perry’s pros and cons, I’ve read every article and blog post that I could find – over several weeks. Many of those posts had 2-300 comments associated with them – I read them all.

After reading literally thousands of comments, it’s become apparent that there are quite a lot of anti-Perry activists out there throwing all sorts of disparaging rhetorical crap against the wall in hopes that some will stick and they can influence someone, anyone, to become anti-Perry too. The unfortunate thing is that most of their negative statements are either completely false, at worst, or misleading, at best.

NO...Perry’s staff had nothing to do with it. I live in Texas and have always voted for Perry, I also know the facts. He has put together what needs to be put out on Perry.

This is a GREAT reference source for the truth to combat the confabulations of the libs when they rev up their frightened smear.

That Rove ‘gently’ denigrates Perry is very revealing. Perry and GWB are not ‘allies’.

He is squishy on immigration
There is some truth in that.

That could be his biggest problem.

i don’t hate anyone.
but i take my religion seriously.
(so do you, by your tag line.)

i don’t think an evangelical should praise Islam,
and quote approvingly from the Quran.
especially when the Quran denies the divinity of Jesus,
and 99.9 of our troops are killed by Muslims,
in the name of Islam.

(and, i’d question anyone who was part of Al Gore’s election campaign.
and who supports Amnesty and the DREAM Act.)

That said, i admit he’s been a decent Governor, and he’s still miles better than Romney, Huntsman, or Ron Paul.

OK...let's give the right interpretation of the moslem thingy by Dr. Jack Wheeler...who wrote about it Friday...snippet from his article:

Now we get to talk bout Rick Perry. He's running, his announcement tomorrow in South Carolina timed to blow all the other candidates scrambling for votes in Iowa's meaningless straw poll out of the water. He doesn't take prisoners. He's also the next president.

Actually, though, this isn't about him, but rather the profound mendacious stupidity of his Dem critics.

That libsite linked above begging the PIAPS to run, Salon, put up this hilarious hit-piece Wednesday (8/09), Rick Perry: The Pro-Sharia Candidate? The kid who wrote it, Justin Elliott, is wonderfully ignorant of what he's blathering about.

His accusation is that Perry is buds with the Aga Khan. Somehow, that means he will promote the imposition of radical Moslem sharia law upon America if president. The Aga Khan is indeed, as Elliott says, the spiritual leader of a form of Islam called Ismailism, and is revered by the some 20 million Ismailis round the world.

We talked about the Ismailis in The Pamir Knot (September 2010). We learned that they "believe in a mystical, peaceful form of Islam that is the antithesis of hate, violence, and Sharia imperialism that infuses mainstream Sunni or Shia Islam."

Further:

"There are no mosques in the Pamirs, because Ismailis have no mosques. They pray privately - men and women together. Ismaili men are extremely respectful of women. The thought of treating women as an inferior form of humanity as does mainstream Islam is as disgusting to Ismaili men as it is to us. No Ismaili man would even think of demanding his wife wear a veil or cover her face in public...

"Up in these lost mountains on the roof of the world, there is a form of Islam that should be a model for Moslems all over the world, a moral contrast to the medieval evil of Wahhabi Islam of the Saudis, the Deobandi Islam of the Taliban, or the Khomeini Islam of the Mullahs of Iran."

Which is why the Islamist missionaries of sharia hate Ismailis more than us infidels. So good for Perry being friends with Ismailis. To claim this makes him "pro-sharia" is a twisted joke.

But maybe Elliott wants the joke to be on us. Maybe he does know the difference between Ismailis and Wahhabis, and is counting on conservatives being ignorant enough not to know. His goal is to smear Perry, and is hoping conservative ignorance will achieve it.

Let's not let this lib smear artist get away with it.

************

There is, however, one Republican governor being urged to run for president who is pro-Sharia: New Jersey's Chris Christie.

When criticized for appointing a Moslem Brotherhood lawyer, Sohail Mohammed, to the New Jersey Superior Court, he spouted the accusations of "Islamophobia" he learned from Grover Norquist, called his critics "crazies," and declared "this sharia law business is just crap."

Jihad Watch's Robert Spencer notes that "What's crap is the idea that Christie is fit to be president." Daniel Pipes states what is now obvious, that "Christie will never become president." Stick to New Jersey, Chris. Just like you promised.

Here's another link to another article on the moslem thing. LINK

Also, when he stood on the hay bale at Ames the other day, he comes across with his posture as if he’s saying “I’ve got the biggest d*** here!”

I'm friends with several Texans; I think that's what is known as the "Texas Swagger". ;-)

Long article but I read every word. Excellent!

But where does Perry stand on chupacabra's in Texas? If he believes in them (I have heard that he spotted one getting on a UFO just outside Haskell), I don't think I could vote for him.;-)

I agree with you. He looks and sounds exactly like W - something I’m sure others out there in the ether are going to see and hear as well.

Except the Gardasil program is still alive and well. The author said he’d read articles and that’s the basis of his research. Sorry, bub, that’s not good research skills.

Yes, Gardasil is alive and well and didn’t go away. It is being shipped to public schools, the school nurse sends out notices to parents, and parents (of any income - high or low) can have their daughters vaccinated for FREE! Yes, free! Who would pass up something for free? Free taxpayer provided school breakfast (to any income). Free taxpayer provided school lunch (supposedly to low income but no one verifies). And free taxpayer provided school shots (to any income level). Folks, it didn’t just magically pop up at public schools on the taxpayers’ dime.

Good...it’s too expensive for inner city girls. And guess what this is taking place throughout the USA...not just Texas.

One thing I feel is true about Rick Perry is that he is not somebody who has spent his whole life dreaming to be president of the United States. I think he loves Texas and hates Washington. He does have an ego but I don’t think that ego extends to lusting to rule the world.

Just as I don’t see Palin wanting to be president out of any sense of it’s-me-or-nobody narcissism, Perry seems to have been dragged into this with the sense that the United States needs somebody like him to right the federal ship of state and get America back on course. He’s well-positioned to assume that role but he hasn’t hid his flaws like someone who has calculated every speech and every move through the prism of wanting to be president someday.

Another thing I see in Perry is that, as a governor for 10 years, he has to be seen with a variety of ethnic and religious groups as a representative of the head of state. Some here act like he must not be a conservative if he’s had his photo snapped with a Muslim or a Mexican. I’m sorry but if you take you job seriously, you realize a governor represents everyone in the state, not just white conservatives. He has to make friends even with those he has some disagreements with.

Texas is a huge state with a diverse culture and I’m sure folks on the Left have been eager to brand him a racist ever since he rose to power. Meeting with minority groups, saying some harmless platitudes and having his photo taken is part of the necessary PR job of winning re-elections. There’s no need to get so bent out of shape over it.

Yep. The things one hears about Perry are ridiculous. But that article provides some great ammunition for dispelling the unfounded crap that is being spread about Perry online.

I have emailed it to friends and family.

I think it’s about time for JimRob to start pulling at least 1/2 of the bias bs against Perry being posted here at FR.

And what about the day of prayer in Houston on August 6 Perry had. The last president that did anything close to that was Ronald Reagan.

No, it’s not so well researched. See my #32 above.

Before someone knee jerks that I hate Perry - no, I don’t so don’t be 12 year olds and start calling names. You wanted to know the truth, here it is. Take it or leave it. You decide on your own who and why Gardasil is being given out on the taxpayers’ dime in public schools.
