LOS ANGELES ( KTLA ) -- The city of Los Angeles' six animal shelters were raided Thursday amid allegations of animal theft and paycheck fraud.
The LAPD's anti-gang unit raided six shelters throughout Los Angeles around 8 a.m. Thursday.
Officers confiscated two shotguns, a rifle and over a dozen .38-caliber handguns and ammunition from West Valley Shelter in Chatsworth.

Guess this is why so many animal control officers turn to STOMPING kittens to death.
I’m not getting the connection with gangs here.
Chatsworth is where all the porn is produced-or so I’m told...
Guns are not allowed in CA.
We all know that.
This story is fiction.
;-)
Boy Howdy! That head line had me worried. I thought that the prisoners were about to stage a mass breakout.
This is unbelievably pathetic in so many ways.
A “city” department being corrupt? No!
A city thing being invaded by another city thing - wow. Isn’t that a house divided against itself?
And an animal thing, which we’re all supposed to feel so wonderful about and have no guilt “helping”. I never trust these things fully. Just because it appeals to animal “lovers”, doesn’t mean it’s good.
The article reads weird, I wonder what’s really going on. Disarmament for shure, but gangs, selling animals?
I heard the last part of a newscast about this on the radio yesterday. The policy is to only use their guns then they have a large animal that is too sick to transport (or perhaps very vicious). They were using unauthorized weapons, I think, and killing animals that were otherwise supposed to be brought to the shelter. Again, I didn’t hear the whole story.
I will take a guess regarding the gang connection.
Gang member friends of animal shelter employees “borrow” the guns, use them in crimes, then “return” to the animal shelter.
Since the guns should have been accounted for at all times (but were not), the guns used in the crimes would have been hard to trace.
Now, you know it’s gotten bad when even the dogs and cats are packin.
“I will take a guess regarding the gang connection.”
Your theory is a possibility.
But you know, we shouldn’t have to guess - It’s the job of the reporter to find out why anti-gang units raided six shelters. I guess these days that’s asking a lot of a reporter.
Well, I'm bored, so I take a chance on a guess.
It's a real news story, but the reporter skipped over the grist of the details so as to not alarm the public about the impending societal collapse?
In other news, according to the article: 5 employees are accused of Time Card Fraud (padding the paycheck?). All 5 are on Paid Leave (!) while the investigation continues.
Schweet! Paid time off and additional pay! Who cares, it's only that free stuff, with dollar signs, that miracuously falls from the sky right into the city's coffers. An act of God.
Euthanize all gang members.
John and Ken (of KFI) would be into this but they are investigating the Fullerton PD.
