California, the Golden State is now experiencing an exodus of businesses both large and small as the state ranks 49 or 50 among the states in business friendly, depending on which study or article you read. But the common denominator is taxes, regulations, and litigation make doing business costly and difficult.

You post a line from a blog with that startling revelation.
We pulled our business out 20 years ago. Was not a friendly place then. Went to another state with the same regulations but those charged with enforcing them were helpful, not adversarial. They came up with solutions that met the regulations and ended up saving us money. California is just plain unfriendly towards business and it has nothing to do with regulations. The attitude of the state employees sucks.
It happened in CA, but it can’t happen in the US...
Didn’t realize lib business was leaving too.
Glad you moved. California has gone down far real fast. Sorry to see it happen.
CA should really split into 2 states.
Sitting here in California, unemployed. Scraping by (barely) on unemployment benefits combined with Two Kids’ Mom’s income. Pops’ store is struggling, mom’s car needs a new transmission and can’t afford a replacement, brother’s auto body shop closed because of high rent and massive overregulation, combined with ridiculous taxes. Other brother is struggling to find whatever work he can scrape together and can’t land a regular job. Sister is looking at moving out of state and living with a couple of roommates. Older kid just graduated and can’t get hired anywhere she’s applied. Sister-in-law called this morning and said she expects to get laid off this week.
California’s definitely not looking “golden” these days.
Have a bad feeling that you’re all exactly where Obama wants you.....so beaten down that you might wonder if the only thing that can save you are the communists.
I grew up in California. What a sad thing to happen to a once great state. If somehow Obama wins next year I figure we’ll end up like the Arabs who are fighting their dictators.
Arnold signed the California Cap and Trade type bill that gives CARB dictatorial powers over everybody. Business is getting crushed by CARB. Nobody will be able withstand their cap and trade fines.
California’s motto: We Be Fooked.
Get this, I just learned that every occupancy in California is now required to have a CO Carbon Monoxide ALARM. Mandatory. As in, you must. Screw em. I'll die first.
I am a 52 year old native Californian. In 52 years I have never known anyone to die of CO poisoning. I have never known anyone who ever knew anyone who died of CO poisoning. And cars burn so clean now with such little CO emissions, it is almost impossible to off yourself in the closed garage with the motor running. You can get a hell of a headache, but won't die from it.
I hit this left wing socialist hellhole. The day I retire, I am out of this commie cesspool.
Let it burn.
I cannot pull dogs from the shelters up to the PNW fast enough. They cut the staffing and the shelters are being inundated.
I get the feeling from most of the people I talk to that 0bama will get the blame for causing the current misery. The communists/socialists/progressives will be viewed as exacerbators of what’s wrong with our once-great state and hopefully enough people will wake up and vote in some officeholders that believe in smaller government and lower taxes coupled with a more business-friendly attitude.
We’ll see. Not terribly optimistic at this point since all the Republicans seem to be able to find are RINOs like Fiorina.
CARB is one more nail in the coffin of California. They are trying to tell everyone else how to run their states as well. Luckily states are all semi autonomous against the feds and each other.
A Country song should be written using your words.
